Just to add: the official Mastodon app does not have the bookmark feature in their current version. The work has been done, but it needs a release.

@asmodai@mastodon.social You can also use those to create a specific list for that, especially useful if you want to bookmark things for a variety of different purposes.

@asmodai@mastodon.social I typical use the bookmarks as a form of fleeting notes which I then process at the end of the day where I save them as a permanent note in Obsidian.md #zettelkasten

@asmodai@mastodon.social I'm looking at docs which say "Mastodon’s full-text search allows logged in users to find results from their own toots, their favourites, and their mentions" (https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/optional/elasticsearch/). Is there another set of docs which says something else (i.e. about bookmarks being searched, rather than favorites)?

@asmodai@mastodon.social also, if you favourite any message, you *can* full text search through those if your server supports ElasticSearch (as many ones smaller than .social do)

@asmodai@mastodon.social Thanks for this tip - I've been using this site for just over a week and yes, a bunch of things are now too far back in my favorites tab since that was what I was doing to "bookmark" - should have just used the bookmark tool 🤦♂️

I found my list of bookmarks in my profile (empty) but for the life of me I can't find a button that bookmarks a post, when reading a post. I must be really blind, or something... Thanks.

@asmodai@mastodon.social This makes me think that the fediverse is going to be a lot more ephemeral than what we're used to. On birdsite I often use search to find conversations from years ago; it can bring back good memories. I'm guessing this won't be possible here? Full-text search shouldn't be too hard to implement, no? At least on a particular instance?
