Moon and Jupiter at about 4:15AM EDT Oct 6 2026. The air was very turbulent, hard to get a sharp image.
150 mm f/9 reflector, (1428 mm focal length), Nikon D7500. Composite of 2 pictures to show the Galilean moons while retaining detail on the moon and Jupiter

My last dream last night involved me back in California, I thought of in my old neighborhood, but I ended up scaling a trail of broken light blue rock to the base of reservoir. None of this was like my old neighborhood there

A common theme in my dreams is getting to places through unexpected difficulties or obstacles. It'd be nice if my dreams weren't like my real life

I have a story of an explosion in my lab long ago (other side) that if it hadn’t been for two fortuitous events would have resulted in two casualties
Also: my dad asked my mom out to dinner after they had both separately come to see a co worker in the hospital, recovering from an explosion in her lab
So don’t diss lab mishaps completely

I have my moments.
Only had one thing blow up in me in the lab, when I was 20.

I was in a station wagon that got totaled, when I was in middle school. All of us in the car were unhurt.

The little bit of linear algebra/matrix math I used for my telescope controller software is getting smeared by association 😉

@amiserabilist@beige.party very cool. I engage the yute of my area with the telescopes and all, and I love to visit with and play with my oldest niece’s children. I think Kid Glass will never become a parent, and that’s ok with me.
