Lambhill Stables on the Forth and Clyde Canal in Glasgow. This was one of a number stables built to the same classical design (similar to that used for Canal House at Speirs Wharf) along the canal in the early 1800s. These provided fresh horses at regular intervals for Swifts (fast passenger boats travelling the length of the canal). Other similar stables can be found at Shirva, Crainmarloch and Easter Cadder near Kirkintilloch. #glasgow #lambhill #architecture #forthandclydecanal

This is another of my new calendars for 2027, and it shows the variety of designs used for Glasgow's Victorian and Edwardian tenements. If you're interested, you can purchase it from my website at: https://www.thisismyglasgow.com/product-category/calendar/. #glasgow #architecture #tenement #calendar #2027calendar

The Craigallian Fire Memorial on outskirts of Glasgow. This marks the location of a meeting point for those travelling between the city and the mountains to the north. From around the start of the 1920s until the outbreak of World War II, it's said a fire was continually kept burning here by the steady stream of young and old, students and workers who explored Scotland and fought for the right to roam across its wild places unhindered. Looking across to Beinn Luibhean, Beinn Ìme, Beinn Narnain and the Cobbler from Ben Donich, all in the Arrochar Alps. Just one hour from Glasgow, and accessible by public transport, having wild places like this on your doorstep is one on the major benefits of living in Glasgow. #glasgow #arrocharalps #hillwalking #scotland #landscapephotography

I love how clear the skies are in Glasgow at this time of year. From Queen's Park this morning, you could see all the way from the nearby autumn trees across the city, out to the Campsie Fells and then on up to Ben More and Stob Binnein, close to Crianlarich more than 40 miles away. #glasgow #queenspark #glasgowtoday #autumn

I'm happy to say my collection of 2027 calendars is now available. You can buy them online here (and we can ship to most places in the world): https://www.thisismyglasgow.com/product-category/calendar/. They'll also be available at my pop-up stall in the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow this Saturday (26th September), and at a few other markets I'll be doing over the next couple of months. There's also a seventh one that's not shown here, and which features ghost signs from aroun...

I recently posted a shot of the huge and imposing marble staircase from the City Chambers in Glasgow, but it's only one of the amazing bits of interior decoration in the building. This is another: the 100 foot long Faience Corridor, where every inch of its walls and domed ceilings are adorned with glazed decorative ceramic tiles. #glasgow #design #ceramics #architecture #architecturephotography

The mornings might be getting darker as we head into the heart of autumn, but it does mean my first dog walk of the day now coincides with the dawn chorus, so it's accompanied by bird song, produced by the likes of this little robin perched on a road sign. #glasgow #autumn #urbanwildlife #robin #birdsong

Living in Glasgow can sometimes have its challenges, especially at this time of year when the weather can be rather wet and the nights are drawing in, but then you come across something like this on Park Drive in the Woodlands area of the city and you're reminded why you'd never want to live anywhere else! #glasgow #keepglasgowweird #streetart #banana #peoplemakeglasgow

It's the last chance to see Maggie's Art Trail Scotties, both large and small, this weekend at the Bridgeton Bus Garage in the East End of Glasgow.
