One of the four rather beautiful golden elephant heads in the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. They were originally part of the auditorium of the neighbouring Palace Theatre which was designed in an Indian style by Bertie Crewe (one of the UK's leading theatre architects who also designed the city's Pavilion Theatre) in 1904.

The Palace theatre was demolished in 1977, but the elephant heads and some other fittings were rescued by Clare Blenkinsop, the general manager of the Citizens, and the Theatres Trust, and they are now on display in the Citizens foyer. #glasgow #citizenstheatre #architecture #elephant #bertiecrewe

@thisismyglasgow@mastodon.scot I presume the balls on the end of the tusks are to prevent injury to passers by?
