An lone sandstone gate post standing on its own in the middle of a wooded area on the top of a hill in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow (as always, spaniel added for scale). I presume this is one of the few surviving remnants of Bellahouston House which once occupied the site.

If so, this gateway led into a walled garden area (and may have included an orchard) which stretched out along the brow of the hill, and the outline of the garden is preserved by the paths within the park. However, it's also possible that this gate post was associated with the 1938 Empire Exhibition which was held in the park. #glasgow #bellahoustonpark #glasgowhistory #dog
