@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org Oh dear, I'm sorry but you know I can't resist cheese. Would you please be so kind as to consider playing Jukebox Hero by Foreigner. #ThePlaylist #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org I don't have any musical heroes, and since nobody is writing songs about Ursula K. Le Guin, I had to go generic: Poets of the Fall - Heroes and Villains AWOLNATION - Kill Your Heroes Xdinary Heroes - Break The Brake Metallica - Hero Of The Day, but SPECIFICALLY the live version with the San Francisco symphony orchestra from the S&M album That last one is a suggestion from my other half, but it's a good one and I agree with it. Meanwhile, Papa Irish seems to be on the theme of "childhood heroes": Haysi Fantayzee - John Wayne Is Big Leggy The Timelords - Doctorin' The Tardis #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org #ThePlaylistSuggestion Three songs that came immediately to mind, and I couldn't come up with anything better. No bed suggestion right now but maybe I'll find something to suggest before the week is out. Black Grape - Kelly's Heroes Scott Walker - Hero of the War The Beach Boys - Heroes and Villains (The Smile Sessions Version) (and yes, I am insisting on the Smile Sessions version https://youtu.be/ptxwWt2JeGQ, it's the only one in which Brian's epic vision was able to play out properly - it was put together by Brian in 2011 from masters recorded shortly before he fell apart in 1967)

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org @FloatingOnion@cyberplace.social Not sure any of these are really about heroes, more about the danger in trying to be a hero, but they're three great tunes! Stiff Little Fingers - Nobody's Hero Strange Boy ft. Enda Gallery - Immortal John Grant - GMF https://song.link/d/3869569731 #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org so my first pick is indirectly CanCon, as it was co-written by a Canadian, and "Man in Motion" refers to the "Man in Motion" tour where Canadian athlete Rick Hansen rode his wheelchair around the world to raise money for spinal cord research. It also doubled as the theme song for an 80s movie. John Parr - St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion) #theplaylistsuggestion https://youtu.be/dx7vNdAb5e4

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org @FloatingOnion@cyberplace.social #ThePlaylistSuggestion #ThePlaylist Jimmy Olsen's Blues - Spindoctors Particle Man - They Might Be Giants Batdance - Prince And this one's a bit tangential, less about heroes and more of an object lesson as to why having heroes can be problematic, but I haven't suggested a Baptists song for aaaages, so: Isaac - Jonny and The Baptists https://jonnyandthebaptists.bandcamp.com/track/isaac

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org Everyone & their mother is gonna think Bowie - "Heroes" but I'd recommend the Scala & Kolacny Bros version (all womens' choir, powerful stuff). And for a bit of fun "Superheroes" by Edguy And if you're doing "Holding out for a Hero" can we get the Jennifer Saunders version from Shrek 2? #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org @FloatingOnion@cyberplace.social #ThePlaylistSuggestion I'd been putting together a personal longlist of at least a dozen tracks to whittle down, and I see they've ALL been suggested by others already! Ha! So, looking a little further, I've got superheroes: 🎸 Johnny "Guitar" Watson - Superman Lover ...Musical heroes: 🤩 Bootsy Collins & Rev. Al Sharpton - JB-Still The Man ...And at risk of sycophancy, DJ folk heroes: 🎶 Reuben Bell - Superjock 📻 Mark Germino - Rex Bob Lowenstein

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org @FloatingOnion@cyberplace.social the first song that comes to mind on the theme "Hero / Heroes" - besides Bonnie Tyler of course - is Do You Want to be a Hero - Jon Anderson. The theme tune to the Biggles (Adventures in Time) movie. https://youtu.be/wyLrgbMyT4E #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org @FloatingOnion@cyberplace.social #theplaylistsuggestion One of those where different people have a different song which is the 'obvious' one. At least 2 of which haven't yet been mentioned and I intend to keep it that way! For me, the obvious one is M-people - Search for the hero But I'll also suggest The Script - Superheroes 3 doors down - Kryptonite
