RE: https://mastodon.scot/@EdinburghMinute/117477427828500136 I find it interesting that the old grenade was taken from the St Leonards police station across the centre of town to Inverleith Park to explode it, rather than walking a single block in a much quieter neighbourhood, to the nearby - and plenty spacious - Holyrood Park. Maybe there’s a city-wide protocol already defined for such events, I guess?

Me: ugh, modern landmark architecture is just rich people showing off how much money they have. What happened to restrained displays of class and taste? 18th Century Scotland: PINEAPPLES!!!

Almost done with the annual period of a.) hearing FAR too much about a US sporting event which doesn't interest most British people. (And I'm one of the people who actually DOES like the sport.) b.) hearing endlessly from those same British people about how little they care, how stupid it is, and how dumb americans are, and how stupid american sports are, and how much we all hate it, and have you ever noticed that it looks like 'superb owl'? Eh? EH?! Bah. A plague on all our...

Look, go birds and Fly Eagles Fly and all those good things, sure. …but have we maybe considered playing with an offensive line that is any stronger than rice paper? I feel it could really help.

RE: https://mendeddrum.org/@DJDarren/117429870611280034 It really has been quite a while since I've found a way to suggest Concrete Schoolyard... Must see if I can't sort that out some time soon.

Oooh, new The Diplomat for our telly viewing, this evening. It’s such an absurd show and it’s full of melodramatic nonsense if compared to the real world BUT I love that about it AND also think the performances are great AND I love the production AND it’s definitely earning its image as a child of The West Wing. Quite aside from all that, though, I also simply cannot pretend I’m not thinking it: Keri Russell. Cor.

I see it’s 30 years to the day since Jeru The Damaja released Wrath Of The Math. https://album.link/s/7jvuTIYaBYqbTcLZZwXlIZ Honestly this guy’s flow and delivery on here (and everything else he’s done) is just the stuff of absolute classic hip hop. A pleasure for our ears. Also I always really liked his use of Miles Davis in the intro for this album. Probably not for everyone, but it worked really well for me.

It’s my birthday so, as the tradition seems to be developing, I grabbed my camera and headed off to have a little explore by myself in the dawn light. Down by the docks in Leith, this time. I’m really going to miss those visiting yellow giants when they’re gone. #photography #leith

One of the big crane ships was back in Leith the other day, so I hustled on down there with my camera and... got there just AFTER the golden evening sun disappeared behind the clouds on the horizon. D'oh! Still, big things by the shore... Fun anyway! #InchCapeWindFarm #Boats #Cranes #RenewableEnergy

Excellent weather for flying some flags at #PortyPride's dog parade, yesterday. And it never actually rained on us, which was a first for me! A great day, as always, and it's still going today. Get along to an event if you can! https://portypride.com/2026events #Pride #Pride2026

Listening to some instrumental music in the background as I review hundreds of drawings. But as this comes on, I can't help but pause and look out of the window to appreciate the spring and remember how lucky I am. What an incredible thing, that the right arrangement of sounds can have such an impact on you. https://youtu.be/aqiqXTA7hX4

Sad to learn of the recent death of the great Peter Aldington. Being shown around the house and garden he and his wife had designed and built themselves in the 1960s, and then lived in ever since, was one of the most wonderful moments of all my time in #architecture to date. Make the trip to visit it yourself, some time: It's so uplifting, and he made it look so easy. Our world could use more designers like Peter. https://youtu.be/nNV1_EKo7Tg https://www.turnend.org.uk/ https://arch...

Our back garden doesn’t get a huge amount of direct sunshine after about 5:00pm, but there’s a spell of maybe ten minutes every evening when the low sun reflects off a neighbour’s window and we get this completely natural spotlight on one or two of the flowers. It looks photoshopped, but it’s completely natural! #BloomScrolling #flowers

Oh jeez, a new track from Massive Attack! https://youtu.be/L-57FrioeuE Tom Waits' voice perfect for this, to my mind. And that's the percussion from Earth Died Screaming, too, unless I'm mistaken? And good grief that's some great photography by thefinaleye in the video, too. #Music

I helped Wifebot out with a stencil design for some cakes she was making for some yoof in Glasgow, yesterday. She made the sprinkles for the cake herself, which was a new thing. And I’ve not done any stencil cutting in ages - was nice to revisit it! She made three of these, in the end, along with some cookies and fudge. Yum! #cake #Baking #stencils #TransJoy
