The Storm, George Inness, 1885 I read this as creepy when I saw it. Inadvertently creepy maybe. The storm makes the whole scene dark but I think it's the shadowy tree and the person walking. Idk I'm seeing like some kind of evil riding in on the storm and making everyone crazy (or were they already crazy?) and then one thing leads to another and lightning strikes the wrong person at the wrong time and suddenly it's a slasher and there's blood everywhere 🤣 #a...

El Reposo Del Trovador (Troubador's rest), Julio Ruelas this is funny because the title sounds pleasant enough. Hate to wake up to that! haha. I like the gruesome little images along the border. Maybe this is an illustration for a story, idk, it has that kind of feel to me... #art #illustration #spooky #gruesome #vampire #ghoul #creature #siesta #cemetery #creepy

Hamlet and the Ghost, Frederic James Shields such a cool ghostly atmosphere. Some weather seems to be just right for ghosts and I think he got it, or pointed to that experience. To me that's a good ghost, also, sort of translucent and maybe hovering a little. Seems like there might or might not be other spirits about in the fog. #art #tragedy #ghost #dad #hamlet #fog #spooky #haunted #revenge #justice #undead

Ghost of Yugao, Yoshitoshi so elegantly done, really impressive. The creeping vine with its little seeking, curling tendrils looking for something to grab on to. and I think the ghost is aware of our presence. I've seen enough to know that a jump scare is right around the corner 😂 #art #woodblock #ukiyo-e #japan #spooky #ghost #creeping #vine #moonlight #haunted

A male skeleton on his knees before a female skeleton (vignette for the feast of the dead), José Guadalupe Posada, ca. 1892 Image included in the broadsheet "La calavera de cupido" (Imprenta de A. Vanegas Arroyo, ca. 1892). love this guy Posada. I have a couple of Posada books. Calaveras, they're already skeletons. The living are already dead. The texture and the attention apparent in the rough engravings gives everything so much character, maybe some kind of fun...

illustration by Rafael de Penagos the eyes and mouth left a streak of fire or light. like those motorcycles in Akira 👻 ✨ 🔥 I read this in school at some point. Good teacher that year 🎃 #art #artDeco #illustration #perfect #simple #design #style #horror #spooky

The Night Shift, Marianne Von Werefkin spooky atmosphere, colors are so amazing. Seems like a place where you'd find a body hidden in the shadows from some kind of mad scientist serial killer. The twin globes of the streetlights give maybe an unconscious association with eyes. Even if it's not a horror scene, look at the working people going in for the night shift, their heads down, exploited, cold. 👻 #art #workingClass #exploited #cold #spooky #atmosphere #twisted #color #...

The Dream of Reason Produces Monsters (El Sueño de la Razon Produce Monstruos), from Los Caprichos, Francisco de Goya, 1799 Something interesting in the comparison of Reason and dreams of monsters. I've read various things here and there that talk about Reason as being incomplete.... Our primate consciousness has big unreasonable feelings maybe. #art #goya #spooky #monstruos #nightmares #dreams #sleep #october #owls #bats #things

from Beatus of Facundus, 1047 more here: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/the-beatus-of-facundus-1047/ idk I was thinking that The Devil as an image is often part of Halloween and spooky season, unless he is in a work with Jesus, in which case the work is religious and not spooky. Then I thought that most religious stuff is out, if it's intended for the religion, and not for a spooky variation or derivative of the religion. So like a normal church funeral is out, but a cemet...

The Six Jizo at Yamashina, Kyoto, Sekino, Jun'ichiro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%E1%B9%A3itigarbha I think this is well done. The tops of the grass bending down in the wind makes me think of spirits passing through, or luck passing through. Maybe catching a little chill, not just from the wind, the blank-faced statues are quietly present, unflinching in the elements. These guys are considered a positive, protective spirit but it's still spookier than if it were an empty...

Moonlit Night. A Village. - Isaac Levitan, 1888 So skilled, damn. The light is perfect and I can just about hear the owls, the wind in the trees, the crunching of the dirt underfoot. Was that a scream?!? 🎃 #art #whoGoesThere #spooky #skill #moonlight #night #quiet #country #rural #nightmare #alive #undead #home

The Incantation (El conjuro), Francisco Goya So good. I'm putting the warning because I know that there are folks that aren't into this type of imagery. Maybe I like it because it's honest, in the way that fantasy can be more honest than reality? The one in the middle with the grimace-smile and the bats grabbing her hood is really strange -- perfect. Demented. I hope it's a basket of dolls that the other one has, who also has a flying creature on the back of...

Can you recommend me a free domain service? I want to try out some things with a secondary domain. I’d prefer ethical and non-shady providers. I have a fixed IP and a VPS to go with it, so it’s really only about the domain. A subdomain of my current domain is not enough. A subdomain of the provider would be OK but not ideal. Even paying very little is not an option right now - maybe later. Doing some preliminary research, the keyword seems to be Dynamic DNS even if I have a static IP. Ther...

Upgraded a few servers. Migrated several sites from #PHP 8.1 > 8.3. Taking a hard look at some sites on 8.2, time to move those up. Why do I have so many random little projects!?? #WebDev

I want to scream at the author of this article I’m reading. It’s a 45 min deep dive into 3 different bugs and how she had to manually herd her agents to triage, eventually getting to something only a human can decide after only getting there via human intervention. Then she says wrap that work into a playbook so the agent can do it itself in the future. Which is then followed by more examples of things agents can’t do and need to be decided by humans. The cognitive dissonance is breaking my br...

Now that I've read Jung’s *Psychological Types*, I think in the original Jungian definitions of introversion and extroversion. Trying to find anything relevant to them is an exercise in frustration because everyone uses the popular psychology definitions (e.g. "prefers solitary work" and “prefers group efforts”). I am primarily introverted by both definitions, but I want to find some information based on the original, and it's nigh impossible.

I don’t know when it happened, but I’m missing a boatload of MP3s I ripped into my iTunes library like 20 years ago.
