idk I was thinking that The Devil as an image is often part of Halloween and spooky season, unless he is in a work with Jesus, in which case the work is religious and not spooky. Then I thought that most religious stuff is out, if it's intended for the religion, and not for a spooky variation or derivative of the religion. So like a normal church funeral is out, but a cemetery in the moonlight is good. A huge cross held by an acolyte in a procession is mundane, but a cross made of a broken broom handle and held up to ward off a vampire is spooky. A red Devil with horns and a goatee is good, but "the fallen angel" or "the devil tempting Jesus" is not.
Then I realized that the exception to that rule is medieval religious art, which is batshit crazy. This was patiently and diligently copied by a succession of catholic monks who were the only folks who knew how to read back then.
I wonder if some of them were into Revelation TOO much.. Keep an eye on that guy -- his father was a foreigner and his mother was a witch. 😁
Anyways I love this stuff I think it's awesome
