How pathetic was BBC Science Reporter Rebecca Morelle's coverage of the Artemis 2 launch? I mean, I'm glad that she found it exciting, but it wasn't what you would call 'reporting', was it? /1

Dusted off an old Windows 10 desktop PC and installed Linux Zorin on it to have a play, with a view to switching my increasingly-slower Win 11 laptop to Linux. I'm quite liking the Zorin, although I've already had to delve into terminal to sort out a keyring issue (and find out what they were!). I think I'm going to give Linux Mint a shot for comparison.

Saw Project Hail Mary at the IMAX yesterday. I wasn't sure how well it would translate from the book, but I was pleasantly surprised at how emotionally invested I became in the fate of a 5-legged stone spider with no anthropomorphic features. Kudos to the puppeteers who brought Rocky to life.

BBC Newswatch used my comment about Rebecca Morelle's commentary on the Artemis 2 launch!

Was the excitement shown by BBC News science editor Rebecca Morelle at the launch of Artemis II inspiring, or did it lack journalistic objectivity?

'Today, the space around Earth can no longer be considered empty. More than 30,000 objects are in orbit, and that figure is rising exponentially'
I love these Grauniad infographic reports, but this is getting really scary.

@fitheach@mstdn.io The cast looks good - I think Henry Cavill will be a good Connor and I'm guessing Russell Crowe will do a better Spanish accent than Connery. And it has Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista as Kurgan. It sounds promising.

@twoowls73@mastodon.scot If you're just going to overwrite it with Linux you won't need the password. Just flash the Linux iso onto a USB with Balena Etcher and boot it from that (may need to change BIOS settings). (Look at me, I sound like I know what I'm talking about after one day playing with Linux!) :ablobcatrave: #Linux

@Thebratdragon@mastodon.scot That scares me a bit too, but I have to say Zorin was very good at finding drivers for everything, including the printer! It also managed to connect to my NAS after some fiddling (and aforementioned keyring issue).
