This conversation. Just last week visiting BC we noticed labor shortages in key areas where overworked people had simply walked off the job. Of course we see this because it’s even more obvious here in US, in the post office, grocery stores, government, utilities and especially medical services. Reports have shown the first DT administration hid the loss of 3 million people to COVID, in medicine, food and government. Still faking it.

One of the more ridiculous attempts to destroy US public health and Americans’ faith in the science of epidemiology is Rand Paul’s continued insistence on the unscientific Wuhan lab theory of Covid origin. It’s rascist, seeks to impede international scientific research, questions airborne transmission of the disease, and reduces obvious public health measures such as increasing ventilation, isolation and mask wearing.

I don't understand how the debate over Chaco Canyon sovereignty now becomes a justification for releasing the land to the deities of capitalism and industrial resource extraction. I've visited there, and it's clearly an important heritage site.

Well, duh! As I mentioned last week, fearful leader was distracted, busy trying to get into Studio 54 (the nightclub, not the film) during the Iran-Iraq war. One reason he’s so death to drugs is they were the price of admission to the club.

One was a periodic issue of “bonuses” of $500 bills when someone playing was losing and would be forced out. He had others less dramatic. For him the object was to keep playing the game.

Attended a very entertaining concert of Seattle Symphony this evening. The orchestra played with thoughtful energy and humor under the baton of Kevin John Edusei who returned to conduct a program celebrating the flamboyance and wit of two great Hungarian composers Kodaly and Liszt. Guest soloist Haochen Zhang performed Liszt’s high-spirited First Piano Concerto.
Program completed with Richard Strauss, Til Eulenspiegel. Recommended.

Thoughtful. The insistence of western powers on an eastern Mediterranean colony ruled by Likkud and the right appears to reflect early 20th C imperial fantasies and disrespect for human rights of the people living there, even including Immigrants lured from difficult and discouraging western countries. It’s time to revive the priorities of human rights protections in world diplomacy.

Recently a large grocery chain store pulled out of a large working class neighborhood because “too much shoplifting.” I’ll edit in the interview link.
Arresting animal rights protestors and prosecuting them as “eco-terrorists” is one of the more sickening aspects of capitalism. In Wisconsin, Ridgland Farms beagle puppy mills are cruel: workers pull out their vocal chords because the dogs are caged, frightened and barking. They are likely to be culled since no labs want to purchase them. Local activists want to place the beagles in adoption.

Mystal: I feel like Anthropic just trying to keep plausible deniability for when, inevitably, its system is used in the most obviously egregious way. When Claude kills the “wrong” person (or, more likely, village full of people) the lawsuit [not only] at the US government; it will be company-wrecking litigation against Anthropic as well. I bet all of Claude’s venture capital funding the government will blame violent mishaps on Anthropic; not guys drunkenly running DOD.”
