It's @notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com but bikes are also the only untraceable mode of travel which will work as long as you have calories left in your legs and basic skills (or mutual aid) to replace chains, lights, and brake pads. Forgive my Dutch directness but please snap out of car dependency and reclaim your cities.

~€13 customs clearing costs on a ~€30 order from the #uk . That's 33% extra cost! This is the last time I am buying from there. While this data is very useful for calibrating traffic models, the potential for misuse and the amount of data these cars collect is off the charts. Remember this story the next time one of your friends says they don't want to travel by train because they don't want to get traceable tickets.
Also: there is no installing piholes, adblockers, or privacy aiding plug-ins on the locked down operating systems on cars. So little you can do as a consumer to combat this, except demanding #legislation

The Netherlands are rediculously flat, you could say as flat as the seabed, which is true because Flevoland has literally been reclaimed from the ocean. The wind is a pain though 😅

@BrentToderian@mastodon.online while being a great piece of infrastructure, it still places cars as the oprimary citizen. In a flat country like the Netherlands cycling up three to four meters is considered a hill already, and people will take alternative routes if available.

Our train and following trains from the west in the direction of Deventer got cancelled in Apeldoorn due to a "system failure". Nothing in the NS app and website, but the disruption is documented on other platforms. Weird stuff...
Also the real time departure information in the NS app is broken.
Is this NS? Digital stuff? Farmer terrorism again? Nothing, no info. Interesting times.
In an unfortunate turn of events the train is delayed at Utrecht due to a person on the tracks. This wrecks our chances at our stretch goal, but safety is always more important than a #KMtrein game. With the stretch goal out of reach, we are still on track for a 33-12=21 layover at 's Hertogenbosch for some snacks.
When going floor shopping, it is always useful to take some colour samples of your furniture with you. We found the ideal ones, and they are modular :D
Fun fact: The Dutch DDZ #trains have Canadian maple leaf patterned speaker grills to honor the Canadian manufacturing heritage of #bombardier . Let's hope #Canada may yet regain that capability some day. 🇪🇺🚃🇨🇦
What do you do when you run short of bicycle parking capacity but you've got empty car parks out back? That's right, you convert the surface parking to bicycle parking. 🚲 Even though the parking looks largely empty now (full during kings night) it already carried more humans than the maximum car parking capacity #bicycle #activeMobility
Grand total of #KMtrein kilometer kampioen: 839.8km out of a planned 907.8km. Not bad for a first time effort if I can say so myself, but missing that last leg to Groningen really took out a chunk of kilometers. Main lesson learned: start in Zwolle to head North to save margin for extra Northern kilometers.
We had a great time and it was nice to see a bunch of places I haven't been to in a while.
I spent the entire morning working out why my new #windows11 corpo laptop wouldn't connect to my usb peripherals all at once. Worked fine separately but wouldn't work all together. A bit difficult if you need a webcam, a keyboard and a mouse to be able to use it.
In the end it turned out to be an obscure PCI lane "power saving" setting in the power schedule editor which would randomly disable PCI lanes. Dear #microslop , if you want to save power, get on reducing #AI power and water waste.
And another casualty due to the illegal border controls on the Dutch/German A1 #shengen border. I grew up in the border region of a free #europe, but I struggle to recognise it more and more the longer this "temporary" symbolic situation continues.
Are we going backwards? Complicated. On Dutch independence day above all things...
The first true failure of the original plan: the train to Zwolle is delayed beyond our transfer. We'll be filling the last kilometers with the train to Enschede instead, assuming we still make that #DMtrein.
Still, running 10 out of 12 hours on planning is a good performance in my book. Especially considering the 800-something kilometers travelled and the amount of network disruption and subsequent non-standard timetables due to construction works this weekend.

New development in the automobile obesity era: newly built sheds on wheels no longer fit the double decked car transport #trains in the EU. This means double length (single deck) trains, with the extra strain impounded on the network and the consumer alike.
Went to check out the cool new trams and the station in Liège. What I got instead: Police firing water cannons at school children, a car infested run down city stinking of urine, and cancelled trains with no further information in any other language than french.
Dutch SNCB website confidently stating that there are rail replacement busses. Arriva (who actually runs the trains) has no idea or no information on their website whatsoever.
Happy fun times. Cool new trams though.
