I just released a new single #OnAmpwall! 🎧

It’s a song I actually wrote quite a few years ago for @Triluna, and while I’ve always loved it, I’ve never been happy with my mix.

I enlisted some help to do a fresh master and it sounds so good now! I hope you enjoy it.

Stolen Time and From the Depths are remasters of a bunch of old mods. Both albums come with the original mod files as bonus content, which is a cool thing I can do with Ampwall since Bandcamp doesn't support a number of old mod formats as uploads.

This is a really good writeup on the state of streaming and what it means to be an indie artist on the platform.

It mirrors my thoughts on the matter. Spotify is useful as “marketing” but only in the sense of easy accessibility. It’s not going away, and I leave my stuff on it as a convenience to my listeners, but I consider it a loss leader. I don’t expect to make money on it.

My close fans buy from Bandcamp regardless of what I do with streaming services.

Hey I haven’t done any music updates lately, but I’ve got some things in the pipeline.

I’m doing a remix exchange with someone I met on Ampwall, and I’m getting some stuff I’ve done for various other venues (re)mixed and mastered to release as singles.

And then… physical releases?? 👀

@hilljam@mastodon.social @shannoncurtis@mastodon.social @RangerRick@redwombat.social Dice actually *literally* made this album; it was done as part of one of Bartizan Chill’s “Dungeon Rush Challenge” posts.

He rolls dice to determine how many tracks, how long, and how many instruments, and then sets a theme. My Winter Reflections and Forbidden Palace albums were written as part of previous challenges as well.

I really love working within the confines of the themes, it makes for fun composing.

Hey, I just released a track to my Bandcamp (and other music services).

I decided it would be interesting to make a song by creating a bunch of bars of completely random notes, and then try to turn them into a cohesive song. It not only worked, it turned out *super* cool. Check it out!

Every time I play this album I rediscover just how fucking brilliant it is. A love letter to Claude Debussy that was ahead of its time. Perfectly blending spoken word narration, piano, drum & bass, symphonic elements, and that indescribable Art of Noise touch.

@chn@mastodon.art I've been using Renoise for ages and it really is a great melding of tracker and traditional DAW.

The only thing I've found to be a bit quirky is lyrics (aka, long-running voice samples) so I usually dump to stems and do a final pass in logic if I'm going to sing, but I also mostly do instrumentals so not a huge deal.

I've seen folks starting to talk about #Ampwall as a viable alternative to #Bandcamp et al, so I figured I’d take it for a spin.

For a relatively new platform it seems pretty nice; I definitely like them being a Public Benefit Company. When looking for new work I had been trying to focus on PBCs but they're so few and far between it was hard (as opposed to B-Corps, which is more of a pinky swear than an actual legal corporate type.)
