@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party My two rules for life for many years now are: 1) People are stupid. 2) People are assholes. (Present company excluded, of course.) So it's not that all _men_ you meet are assholes, it's that most of the _people_ you meet are assholes. And the closer you get to people (like, trying to date them, e.g.) the more likely you are to notice that they're assholes.

@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party Combine 2 and 3. Normal men you meet are assholes. Some are fighting their nature, some aren't, but meeting you amps the voltage to be an asshole.

@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party Maybe you are mostly meeting men in contexts where asshole behavior is rewarded (in men). Are you in tech or something?

@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party Unfortunately, the assholes don't come with large flashing neon signs that say, "I'M AN ASSHOLE!"

@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party I really think that men tend to be arseholes... Maybe not all men, or even "all men I meet" but the thing I've seen is there's two distinctive types. The ones that are just simple arseholes... Like they're just hey, here I am, I'm an arsehole... Then the really far worse one, "Hey I wasn't being an arsehole, and I'm stopping right now, why would you think I'm an arsehole anyway?" Ie. they insist they're not an arsehole, while doing exactly the arseholery that they are being asked to stop.

@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party You say it is statistically impossible and yet… I mean, I am an asshole, I just do a pretty decent job of covering it up.

@Crystal_Fish_Caves@mstdn.party more likely the way you meet men selects the kind of men you meet. I don't say assholes because that's ambiguous and subjective, but of course it might be the correct label. I just don't like labelling so I'll assume, not men you like to be with. We're all assholes in some respect, not just men but I can only speak for myself as a man. But I have a woman who loves me regardless, and we each think the other is wonderful. And sometimes an asshole  but we understand.
