Europlanet is an organisation for all kinds of planetary science people in Europe, including academia, industry, government and amateurs. You can follow their video account at: ➡️ @europlanet_media (Don't worry if it looks blank, that just means no one from your server follows it yet. If you follow the account, the videos will start gradually showing up on your server too.) #FeaturedPeerTube #PlanetaryScience #Science #Space #Astrophysics #SolarSystem #PeerTube

Scientists have known for a long time that so-called “ice planets” like Uranus and Neptune are composed of some pretty weird materials. But recreating the conditions that create those materials is next to impossible. This is where simulations come into play. @ScienceAlert@flipboard.com has more, including what could be hiding in our solar system: https://flip.it/TxxpUF #Science #Space #SolarSystem

An Unknown State of Matter Could Be Hiding in Our Solar System

Despite outward appearances, the internal workings of ice giants like Uranus and Neptune are extremely chaotic.

It might be time to dust off your old solar system mnemonics. NASA chief Jared Isaacman says he wants to make Pluto a planet again. Space.com has more. Share your mnemonics below (we're "My Very Early Morning Jam Sandwich Usually Nauseates People"). https://flip.it/gaWuiI #Space #SolarSystem #Pluto

"We are doing some papers right now on, I think, a position that we would love to escalate through the scientific community to revisit this discussion."

A city-size green comet is now visible in the night sky — but C/2024 E1 (Wierzchoś) is just passing through. Astronomers say this icy visitor will soon be flung out of our solar system and into interstellar space, much like 3I/ATLAS. Blink and you’ll miss it — once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. Newly visible, city-size 'green comet' will soon be ejected into interstellar space — just like 3I/ATLAS

Comet Wierzchoś, also known as C/2024 E1, is rapidly brightening as it approaches its closest point to Earth next week. But experts predict it will eventually be thrown out of the solar system forever, just like the "alien" comet 3I/ATLAS.
