Day 808 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing Today’s game is some Halo. I wanted to take it easy tonight, mostly because I had to be up early in the morning. So Halo was how I chose to relax. Somehow even the PvP sessions are relaxing to chill in. Well. Usually at least. I got out in a Griffball lobby for the very first game. My friend I was playing with got disconnected though so it was just me in public matchmaking with 7 strangers for this game. I didn’t realize Griffball was even an option in Matchmaking but I guess it is. We ended up tying after one of our teammates kind of betrayed us and huddled in the corner with the ball I guess? The enemy team seemed happy to let them do it and we can’t really betray our teammate so I guess that’s that We ended up playing rally until the matchmaking ban was lifted. Or at least that was the plan, then others joined and we decided we’d just go play a Free for All game. Still. Rally was kind of interesting. I can only tolerate it for so long but it was an interesting change of pace. Our final game of the night was Odd Ball. I like this game mode. It feels like even on low player counts there’s always action because you know where it is. On other game modes it’s very easy to get lost and not find the action. Especially on low player counts. That’s not really an issue here and I like it. Anyways. Tomorrow I’m gonna try and finish up AC Liberations. It’s been burning 40 GBs in my Hard Drive and I’d like those back please.

Day 807 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing Today’s game is Daikatana. I have heard that this game is basically not good. I had a left over handful of quarters though in my Steam wallet so I decided to pick it up. To really see how bad it is. I even decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and install patches and all that stuff. First of all this game is so fucking green. You ever see that Episode of Futurama where they go to the Slurm Factory? I’m thinking that but it’s Mt. Dew. Like. It’s super fucking green. My second gripe is the loading zones are bad. Half Life had them too but they felt fast. Even on a SSD I could be waiting a solid 30 seconds for it to load. And if I pass back over the line on accident i have to wait again. Enough complaining about the design though. What about Gameplay? It’s okay I guess. It’s not the worst thing I’ve played. I didn’t feel like there was any way I could tell my shots were hitting. And the game felt really hard. But also that might not be fair to the game because Half Life felt really hard to me too. So I’m not really the person to trust with that. I will say the story seems kind of interesting. At least what I could pick up through my glitching audio. I ended up getting to this door way and I kept getting my ass handed to me by these bird things and then an even bigger set of birds. I can’t figure out what to do. I’ve died here like 20 times now and no dice. So I ended up calling it quits. I want to try again eventually because I would at least like to get a decent ways in before forming any sort of opinion. So, did “Romero make me his bitch”? Eh, the jury is still kind of out.

Day 796 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing Today’s game is Portal: Alive and Kicking. I saw this existed somewhere the other day and grabbed it. From everything i understand it’s a remake of Portal 1 in the Portal 2 engine. It’s a minute difference I’m sure, but I was bored and wanted to try it. Honestly this is a bit of a hard thing to right about because… it’s just Portal 1. I’d like to give some introspective about how cool “such and such” is compared to the original. But honestly there’s not much to say because it’s so well put together that I can’t tell any difference. I did actually manage to lock myself out of the door which got a laugh out of me. All I had to do was take the cube off the button and put it back on. But it was funny to see. There’s one change I actually just remembered I actually really like. At least I think it’s a change. The energy pellet collector thing(?) will cast a light on the opposite wall, which makes placing a portal far easier. This could totally be a thing in the original though so I could be wrong. I made it as far as Chamber 10 before stopping. I wanted to go all the way to the end but it was getting late and I had some stuff to do, so I decided it was a good point to stop. I would like to actually go back and finish this. It’s just portal 1, so it’s not like it’s a crazy long thing to finish. I do also have a bunch of stuff already on my plate though I want to finish so maybe not.

A Modern History of Fighting Game Releases | Sajam Of course no one data point can explain a game’s success or failure, but this is a pretty thorough and mostly objective review of the past 10 years.

Day 805 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing Today’s game is Breath of The Wild, on the 3DS. I saw someone post a link online somewhere, and despite years of experience handling cyber security on a personal level, there was a little voice in my head that was saying “Just a peak. You’ll know it’s probably safe it’s a .CIA file”. Turns out. It was safe. And it’s beautiful in a “This looks like shit but is genuinely impressive” kind of way. I ended up breaking out of the Great Plateu which you can’t do in the og I think. I took a stroll on down towards Zora’s domain to see if there’s anything there. As I went on things got trippy fast. The most interesting part was that Water? It was gone. It was actually kind of cool to see what I assume is the land under the water since I think it was a import of the official map. It was cool to run around down there. As I was walking I noticed this tower in the distance looming over me. I didn’t think there would be one. All the map is visible so why would I need a tower? If I wasn’t short on time I would have gone over there to see what’s up with it. Eventually though, after nearly 40 Minutes of walking and climbing and dramatically sliding down empty rivers, I reached Zora’s Domain. Or, what’s left of it. It was genuinely unsettling in a way to be in a place that normally feels so populated but has vanished off the map. It’s like the rapture came and took not just the people but the building and water too. I explored around for a bit to see if maybe it just needed a bit too load in but couldn’t seem to get it to load in. So i left it. I want to go see that tower next but 40 minutes was all the time I could spare on this. I’m hoping whoever is developing this updates it because it’s genuinely very cool.

EU citizens on here, Ross Scott is warning about a draconian law in the European Union. Please look a the video it will explain the problem whole lot better than I ever could. But if you think it is important please sign the petition. The EU Commision is rolling out a law that will severly impede our rights when it comes to digital products.

This could legitimately end Stop Killing Games.

Day 804 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing Today’s game is Pokemon Platinum. I have done it. I have assembled a complete Living Dex. Right in time too because my Wi-Fi came back online today. In a way it feels like my work has been rewarded. Anyways. I have just finished collecting the legendaries a few minutes ago. A few highlights here, with my favorite being cheddar carrying the team in catching Palkia. Rest of my team got sweeped and cheddar saved us. Cresselia was an absolute headache to catch. Even with mean look it was a headache because she could flee after knocking out my mean looker. It took me almost 3 hours to catch her. Also, I didn’t realize she had a gender. I assumed she was gender less like the others. It’s kind of interesting to see an exclusion. Another interesting thing, remember last night how I said I was looking for an Absol last night? Literally the first Pokemon I found was an Absol when I loaded back in. I thought that was funny. Anyways. I just wanted to share this update. I’ll start HGSS soon, but I think I’ll wait a bit. Now that my Wi-Fi is back I want some much needed Halo with my Friends.

Day 801 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing Today’s game is Fallout 3. I finished gathering up the Radar dish today and climbed the Washington Monument to hang it up there. Honestly, seeing something like that, that I recognize from real life is just a “wow” moment. Like. You see it and approach it and there’s just this factor of “I recognize that!” Regardless of current state of things, it was cool to see in game and get to climb. I went bumped into willow and found out about the colony of Ghouls. I didn’t know that was a thing so I’ll have to check it out on my way back. I’m curious to see what all they have going on. I made it to Rivet City today before ending off. I had heard about it but had no idea it was a big aircraft carrier. It’s kind of cool to get to it up close. I had some trouble finding my way in though. My first attempt I tried to swim. Second I found the bridge. That was maybe 10 minutes of looking. I went ahead and continued the main quest, along with talking to this dork who’s apparently from the institute from everything I’ve heard about him online. I love when games do this kind of stuff. Lay out little inconsequential details that end up becoming relevant later. It’s really cool to see. It does make me want to play Fallout 4 again though so maybe I’ll have to do that.

Enjoyable VN Thriller about programming Seeing as this visual novel never got much interest in the years after it came out, I figured I should bright light to a hidden gem. The premise is this: You play as a dude who works for a cybersecurity firm. Someone leaked the code of one of the MC’s clients, and the boss wants the MC to figure out whodunnit. The premise comes off as a mystery, but I find it’s more of a thriller. There’s a lot of action, gunfights, and hostage taking. There are also a good number of real programming concepts mentioned, which are used to perform hacks and make viruses. The 9ish hours I spent on it were quite enjoyable. The game is set in the early summer of 2016, before certain…events happened in our timeline. Of particular note is that the game is set before the mass proliferation of AI and LLMs in the present day. There’s one character who is determined to make this proliferation happen even sooner than our reality. You’re given the option to support or oppose this character; I naturally chose to oppose. The likes of Claude and Stable Diffusion from our time appearing in the summer of 2016 would be disastrous, at least in my opinion. I advise at least giving it a look if that interests you. I had fun with it.
