No Kings protest, Spartanburg, South Carolina. All four corners of this intersection and adjacent streets were occupied.

I was amazed at the amount of support from passing drivers, who were waving, showing thumbs up, and/or honking as they passed.

We could have funded education, healthcare, and housing, but instead we bombed Iran for months to prove we have a big wee-wee.

@cell911@techhub.social @steve@s.yelvington.com The Alligator used to be in a former fraternity house on University Avenue where there once was a radio station. There was a very tall post with an antenna at the top. The Cox cable crossed close to it, and I believe that was the entry point. There was easily $10,000+ worth of damage throughout the building, and that was in 1990.

@ben@werd.social This is exactly right. But it requires an acknowledgement that news is a public good, not a public equity plaything that should be squeezed dry like a lemon. #localNews #publicGood

I am the former systems editor for the Spartanburg, S.C., Herald-Journal. Now I am working to establish a local media nonprofit for Spartanburg. If you don’t remember newspapers from 20 years ago, you may not realize what you’re missing. But if you were a newspaper reader then, you probably realize what the hedge fund managers that bought up local media have done to us, and to our community. Spartanburg residents are invited to join me at https://spartanburg.social#introduction

@dangillmor@mastodon.social Mozilla had a mission. It got harder, so they gave up and started pursuing easier goals. I'd like to think it can be redirected, but this seems deeply embedded in its culture now. Looking for a reason to believe.

Is anyone working to block #PostHog first-party routing on U.S. federal websites? It appears that #UBlockOrigin could do it but it would require a list of custom network filters. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jun/28/government-website-visitor-tracking-surveillance-fears #infosec #eff

State democratic parties are more concerned about the rise of democratic socialists than they are of sex pests and quislings. That way lies failure for all democrats.

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social Much of my spam/phishing comes from Cloudflare. There's a constant churn of nonsense domains and mailservers that are rotated so they don't attract attention. Large ranges of IP addresses involved.

@steve@s.yelvington.com My observation of a lightening strike at work many years ago supports the notion that it follows the easiest path to ground. It might be worthwhile to trace that path to see if it could be offered a less destructive path next time. 🤷‍♂️ Seldom practical, of course.
