The Iran-linked MuddyWater crew ran a four-continent espionage campaign mostly using... legit software. Signed binaries, DLL side-loading, Node.js instead of PowerShell, data exfiltrated through a normal file-sharing site.
If you're not watching behaviour, you're watching the wrong layer.

@splitbrain@fedi.splitbrain.org isn’t the problem here more that some people treat the fediverse like Google?
What kind of questions are appropriate for fediverse that can’t be googled?

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us that’s been an issue at the Canada USA land border for decades. Wonder why they’re applying it from the UK now.

Cards Against Humanity made this one as a joke prior to Trump's first term... sad that it may be more useful than a joke soon.

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca @_L1vY_@mstdn.social it’s a bit unrealistic for a Canadian prime minister to react any other way. While Carney is probably the best Conservative prime minister since Diefenbaker, he isn’t going to needlessly get on Trump’s bad side.

Haven't heard much about Havana Syndrome lately., apparently a researcher in Norway was able to reproduce the effects with a pulsed microwave device. #HavanaSyndromehttps://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/02/14/havana-syndrome-cia-norway-experiment/

@tylerknowsnothing@hear-me.social I've spent a lot of time researching it, so I know it can be a useful tool - it was only on that point I answered. :). NB: It's also been an amazing tool for OSINT.

@tylerknowsnothing@hear-me.social Simply a reaction to your statement that "500 connections which never helped me with anything after decades of work"
So the "they" is your 500 connections. :)

@joshbuddy@sfba.social @cryptohagen@social.data.coop yes in this case the app is deleted (the database on signal is encrypted anyways, even if it was installed) - the interesting part is that if you have notifications turned on, with the full message, apple stores the messages in the notifications database and so can get full access to your incoming messages that way. :) solution: turn notifications to name only or no information at all "You've got a Signal message" only.

@RMerlin@fosstodon.org so interesting but why isn’t this just a software update? Looks like the same WiFi 7 radios should be able to manage the three additional features

@RMerlin@fosstodon.org @wblondel@mastodon.social I wonder why the RT-BE92U is so problematic, it's the first ASUS router I've played with that I needed to start turning off features to get it to work properly.

@servelan@newsie.social you never post anything complimentary of Trump, have you considered what kind of bubble of information you’re creating?
I’m no Trump fan but the information bubbles are what caused Trump, and they aren’t fixed by just creating our own bubbles.
