@odd@mstdn.social @hailey@hails.org It generally doesn't prevent AI generated projects from getting packaged, but considering that this is a core package for Gentoo, it likely will have additional review and such done, which will affect if it gets unmasked and such?

@q3k@social.hackerspace.pl @implr@social.hackerspace.pl For the last 5 big kernel CVEs, I think 4 of them were disabled by my kernel config and I didn't have to panic. It's nice.

@MarkRipley@mastodon.gamedev.place While that is funny, most likely a vibe constructed house would look like a standard house, but its windows would be facing north, it would have used asbestos, would have the upper floor not wide enough to properly sit on the walls for a long time and would have used the wrong stress calculation for the roof. So in a few years it would crash down and squash anyone inside, but it would have looked good on paper, been fire-proof and much faster to plan.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I actually don't remember! I am pretty sure I created an account quite early, but never used it that much... Then migrated a few times... Whatever, it has been a while. Back then Fedi looked a lot different though, I don't think I even used an ActivityPub based implementation at the start.

@marcuwekling@cultur.social Puzzler. Puzzler aller Leser, vereinigt euch! Wie ein Puzzle!

I collected a few stories about what happened in and around Matrix in 2023: https://blog.neko.dev/posts/matrix-year-in-review-2023.html
The post got a little delayed, because stuff never stops happening, but if you still want to read it, it is here now!

@jzakotnik@mastodon.social @briankrebs@infosec.exchange I probably would have fallen for an AI voice calling me and claiming to be from Google. That is something I would expect from Google, I don't think I ever talked to an actual human on their support options.

@AndresFreundTec@mastodon.social We are using tart with gitlab-ci. It is not clear yet, if that will also get shut down in the near future, since that was their VM software, but at least for now it seems to still be maintained, so maybe that would be an option? For Windows we just use gitlab-ci with a custom runner, that starts libvirt VMs. It is quite flexible and probably could be made to fit most things, but it does take some effort to setup and maintenance as well as compute hardware.
However we already run our own Gitlab as well, so it is quite likely, that our solution is not a good fit at all for you. But I do think running your own CI hardware using open-source tools wasn't a bad idea.

@quino_schuetz@norden.social @jolla@techhub.social They usually don't provide a clear answer to this, since it depends on several factors and in the past it wasn't even clear if Jolla would be around for that long, but historically it has been between 5-8 years, usually on the higher end for first party devices.
