@platypus@glammr.us @DeliaChristina@sfba.social It shows many things that are not fires. There's several such maps popping up right now, and they all use the same data. It's heat on the ground detected by satellite. I always check if Linz (a city in Austria) is on fire on such a map. If it is, I know that it's the same satellite data again. There's a large steel plant in Linz, but (as of now) absolutely definitely no wildfire on the premises of the steel plant. It you already know that there is a fire in a place, you can use such a map to see how it is moving, if it is growing, etc. But you cannot look at all the orange and red dots around the world and assume that they are all wildfires.

Ich hab zu dem Thema bis jetzt nur klassische Tageszeitungen und Fediverse konsumiert. Erstere haben teilweise Liveticker zu den Leuten vom Schiff gemacht, aber viel ist ja gar nicht bekannt. Hier hab ich schon ein paar sehr besorgte Leute gesehen, die etwas zu motiviert Angst verbreiten.

Ich weiß aber, dass das letzte Mal, wie wir ein neues Handy gebraucht haben, es ein ausreichend vielfältiges Angebot an gebrauchten Handys gab. Gebraucht von privat oder auch refurbished. Das kann das "teuer" lösen, aber vielleicht nicht unbedingt das "kann zu viel". Und irgendwie nachhaltiger ist es auch. 🤷 Das ältere Kind hier ist bis in die Mitte der 6. Schulstufe ohne jegliches Handy ausgekommen. Das jüngere ist sehr empört, dass es noch immer keines hat. Wegen Ersatzakku hast du vermutlich eh geschaut?

It does not occur anywhere in the true sources; and that's not surprising since anyone who knows a little bit about solar knows that colder is better. But "someone did X when everyone said it makes no sense" is a tired, boring, overused trope, so the slop machine will definitely use it.
