this is an archetype of person ive met in the world where when i've talked about starting this or that community project they say 'you should go to this entrepeneurship place! how about vc funding!' and so on. their world doesnt actually contain humanity, only businessiness, and only the idea of profit (notably not actual profit)

@senanthic@mstdn.ca i have one of the open top petsafe ones, you can use clay litter in them and i add some of the crystal stuff for odor control, lots of people get rid of them for cheap because they think they have to keep using the branded expensive gel based litter, i use costco clay based.
my only complaint is that the lip of the reusable plastic tray they make doesnt do anything, its kind of implied the robot will sweep the chunkies over that lip and keep it separate from the rest, but it just ends up being an obstacle when you go to remove it all.
somewhere on the internet there exists a steel litter pan with an included broad sifter you leave in place and just pick it up and dump the chunkies all at once but it doesnt seem to be a thing i can actually order. anyway. for someone on a budget and a cat so picky she'll piss beside the box if its not cleaned every day, it has served well for a $75 investment.
