Built #viewtif during the government shutdown from daily frustration. Why is it so hard to just look at a GeoTIFF from the terminal? 😅 Inspired by Jake Longecker's GeoViewer for ECOSTRESS imagery. Just chatted with Alastair on the @geomob@mapstodon.space podcast. Hope you enjoy it! 🎙️https://thegeomob.com/podcast/episode-329

Being reminded that writing a paper is such an exercise that requires focus, resilience, solitude, critical thinking, self doubt, humbleness. None of which seems to align with where we are heading today

This talks about great research by a 9-year-old, but the story is much more than that. Compassion beyond species boundaries and memories carried across generations. I really enjoyed it and I was moved. The link to the podcast is in the article https://biology.georgetown.edu/news-story/new-podcast-features-georgetown-entomologists-collaboration-with-precociousjapanese-butterfly-researcher/

New Podcast Features Georgetown Entomologist’s Collaboration With Precocious Japanese Butterfly Researcher - Department of Biology

Esteemed Georgetown entomologist Dr. Martha Weiss has received plenty of press. Her research in moth memory has been discussed in dozens of science news articles and interviews, including a segment on NPR’s RadioLab. However, her favorite correspondent is a ten-year-old, an ocean away. In a new episode of the Signal Hill podcast, Weiss’ daughter shares […]

I don’t know what #google is waiting for, by not integrating climate and nature data more directly into #googlemap or #googleearth

Great to work with Samapriya Roy, Ph.D. as always. Thank you so much 🙏 These datasets provided by JAXA are strictly for non-commercial use only. They cover the region affected by the January 2024 magnitude 7.6 earthquake. HH polarisation; ascending, and descending angles remain consistent for the same path.

Skynet-1A: Why did the UK's oldest space satellite end up thousands of miles from where it should have been?

Britain's oldest satellite is in the wrong part of the sky, but no-one's really sure who moved it.

@hareldan@mapstodon.space Same old things repeated, I think. A series of misinformation is really exhausting to see
