Withholding essential, dare I say basic, security features from users as leverage to upsell is such a poor lever to building trust. This is https://docmost.com/

God, I'm an idiot. TIL that the Strix Halo machine that runs my homelab (Proxmox, Kubernetes and llama-server) has a power button to increase the power limit from 55W to 85W to 120W.

Man I'm having a lot of fun vibe coding little personal apps on Freepod. This little date picker is the latest in a string of personal slop. https://when.prutser.freepod.eu/skynet-self-awareness

Freepod runs a nightly upgrader service that updates the curated product catalog for any product that has had a new release. This service is really an agent that scours github, dockerhub, compose files, helm charts, and release notes for new (stable) releases of each product and then opens a PR against Freepod's catalog files with the necessary Helm chart updates. Doing this manually for a growing catalog is very tedious, but keeping internet facing services up to date is essential. S...

I wanted a simple service to swap (large) files through anonymous private share links with friends. Instead of vibe coding a little one-off Freepod app, I figured instead I should try to just deploy an existing tool. Pingvin Share X came up on a search. Looked like a simple enough WeTransfer clone. This being mostly a freepod usability test, it needed to deploy there and freepod doesn't have persistent volumes, only object storage and a db. Pingvin defaults to storing files, includin...

I have run out of Claude tokens early again this week. Instead, I'm going to try and use the local rig running qwen3.8-27b for what I would otherwise have handed to Opus. Qwen3.8 is slow on Strix Halo, but it is capable. It can't touch Opus, but it does feel like the first local model genuinely capable of coding in a real codebase.

Rerunning the experiment with Qwen3.8-Flash-Next 125b on the same 128GB Strix Halo machine yields an even better result: a Rust port with full feature parity in only 4 hours and only 3 compactions. 262k q8_0 context, Vulkan, low reasoning, preserve thinking. https://mas.to/@prutser/117223965735698905

Omarchy has a bad rep on this platform, but daily driving Linux on the desktop does benefit from an AI agent on standby

Hahah I noticed Qwen3.8 cursing to itself, but only hidden in its training, not in its output 😂
