I wanted a simple service to swap (large) files through anonymous private share links with friends.
Instead of vibe coding a little one-off Freepod app, I figured instead I should try to just deploy an existing tool.
Pingvin Share X came up on a search. Looked like a simple enough WeTransfer clone.
This being mostly a freepod usability test, it needed to deploy there and freepod doesn't have persistent volumes, only object storage and a db.
Pingvin defaults to storing files, including its sqlite db on a volume mount, but it does have support for S3.
Database-wise it can use pretty much any db, but its db migrations are sqlite-only.
It also has a nextjs frontend and node backend and requires a reverse proxy to serve both. It ships with a compose file, but Freepod doesn't support those.
All this is to say, it wasn't going to deploy to freepod as-is.
I figured I'd hand it off to the local clanker (Qwen-3.8-27b + OpenCode) and tell it to "just" deploy Pingvin to Freepod.

Look, there's a million of these self-hosted tools and (https://github.com/9001/copyparty) would be an obvious one. However, it doesn't support object storage backends yet. I had never heard of Pingvin, but since it didn't fundamentally depend on anything freepod couldn't offer, trying to deploy it seemed like good test.
