I really tried to get anything but Arcteryx to replace my disintegrating Marmot technical jacket but nobody else met my specs. So now I'm paying the fashion penalty, I figure that's about $100 because the damn brand is still in fashion.

@Schouten_B I did! It’s much less common here though. And REI had the Arc. When I gave Opus my specs those were the two it suggested

I was surprised to see my Intel* MacBook is now running golden gate! I don’t think it will autoupdate from sequoia so I gotta figure I dementedly updated accidentally. So far it has not melted down. UPDATE: It's an M1. We have 4 and I thought this was the intel orphan.

I couldn't figure out what was so wrong about Tahoe (installed two wks ago). Windows were weird. Opus reminded me Tsai wrote about this. You have to go to Keyboard Shortcuts / Spotlight and turn on search for app names. I navigate by Spotlight AppName so things were behaving oddly Despite the UI appearance you can't actually add a new shortcut key, instead the standard key returns more things. Yes, that UI is really stupid, but that's modern Apple.

Ran into the weird Tahoe bug where app search can't find safari. Killing spotlight process seemed to fix it... Anyway, it's a thing

Wow. Tahoe really is a POS. I upgraded a month ago in prep for GG and I'm running into all the festering bugs @mjtsai and @eclecticlight.co write about. Abominable.

Now that I've been using Tahoe for a few weeks I realize that all the online whining and complaining was misleading. It's much worse than I expected. Like, Tim Cook should have resigned over Tahoe. Going to GG next week.

Minor sorrow. I broke my 26yo Bose QC 2 headphones. The new gen is huge, heavy and needs a LiOn battery. So I took a swing on a $150 refurb 9yo QC 25. Yeah, defective. Via Amazon, so easy return. I woudn't have chanced it without that easy return. So ... I may be stuck in the future. Anyone have a noise canceling over ear headphone they like? I'd like a wired attachment as well as bluetooth

I won’t quote ai stats here, but they fit my perception that over the past two years email spam has gotten much worse. Not just cybercrime. Lots of desperate marketing from legit business. My local paper alone has many spam streams. But it goes unremarked. I suppose there is nothing left to say.
