EV engine efficiency is greater than the one of combustible engine. Great. But, what about energy storage? Store 50l of petrol for a month vs. probably 150-300kWh el. energy in batteries for a month. This is an "extreme" example, but I think the point stands. EVs will dissipate energy for no actual benefit when stagnant. How much energy will go to waste because of this? What percentage of cars are in 100% use vs. sitting on their chargers most of the day?

I'll commit to a month of Mastodon during month of March. Hopefully it'll be enough time for me to start using it on a regular basis instead of Twitter.

I took on a side project that's really complex if you want to get it right ๐ . Now I'm in the phase of just cutting corners(postponing non-crucial stuff) to be able to finish in a month. Otherwise I won't even have enough energy and willpower to continue.

I know that the holy grail is to be able to push something usable in a couple of days. This took me at least a couple of weeks to test and see if critical paths are even feasible...

But at least I've learned a ton. Even touched on imlpementing my own async logic in V8 isolates, and a few things that Cloudflare probably does for their workers :)

One of the most painful things when working on a longer side project is re-learning things and figuring out why you made a certain decision every now and then ๐

I prefer to write a single Slack message containing "hello" + multiple points/questions needed for the other side to respond in 1 message. But I think most people prefer small back and forth messages and are annoyed with/don't read longer messages at all. Instead they try to infer the meaning by reading a part of it. So instead of more efficient async communication it falls back to extremely inefficient one. This will probably never change

I've set up short artificial API call delays on couple of frontend projects for dev env. I wanted everyone to experience something closer to what the end user will have to deal with. Most common is not implementing loading state. It's easy to miss if everything is instantaneous. But this always seemed to bother everyone and it'd always end up being removed. Even if it was completely stripped from production code in build time and implemented in a single place. I can&#...

Regression testing should be an order of magnitude more comprehensive for AI based software compared to conventional software.
