I prefer to write a single Slack message containing "hello" + multiple points/questions needed for the other side to respond in 1 message. But I think most people prefer small back and forth messages and are annoyed with/don't read longer messages at all. Instead they try to infer the meaning by reading a part of it. So instead of more efficient async communication it falls back to extremely inefficient one. This will probably never change
