Was just on the treadmill and a band I listened to ALL THE TIME back in the day in Fresno came up. The Wild Blue Yonder. Wild Blue Yonder ran their own nightclub in Fresno from 1974 to 1994. It was THE hot club scene in Fresno's Tower District. It made me realize that after riding motorcycles way faster than posted, driving 80,000 lb. trucks in formation with California freeway traffic, and flying airplanes for 20 years...I am still here. It's been a crazy ride. But I&#39...

Any #racing fans want a good distraction tonight? This is an iRacing SIMULATED midget race at the Chili Bowl (indoors). What is so cool about this is the many camera angles etc, and the fact that all these drivers are sitting at home on their own racing sims. No idea if they have pants on LOL. Vid is over an hour long (scroll to 14:40 for actual action), so no need to watch it all, but take a quick look at a few laps to see how far multiplayer sim racing has come. https://www.youtube.com/liv...

So my robot vacuum cleaner fell over the side of our stairwell and crashed hard on the carpet below. Seems to still be operational, but its dust bin blew open and scattered a week's worth of crap on the carpet. Gotta pull out the analog vacuum. This is not supposed to happen. Remind me again how robots are going to take over the world and end humanity? So far, my only robot can't even do stairs.

I am not by any stretch of the imagination a roller coaster engineer, but this seems like a decision coming way too late: From APNews.com: "Six Flags says it will install seat belts on Georgia roller coaster after rider’s death" I dunno, maybe seat belts would be a grand idea given the nature of G forces and unusual attitudes on today's roller coasters. But what do I know. https://apnews.com/article/roller-coaster-death-six-flags-georgia-90a9bfe6a6fc934ab7f2a1a6bf52...

This is my annual post to prove that yes, I am a dinosaur. I hate Halloween. These, I said it. If you have littles, great, dress them up and go crazy. Your Dentist will thank you later. But the reason I hate this otherwise harmless "holiday" is the celebration of death, blood, gore, dismemberment, all that. If you need to put out an inflatable Barbie getting dismembered by Chainsaw Charlie - complete with gallons of fake blood and body parts strewn across your front lawn -...

Hey #Amtrak, ya'll are a touch behind the curve on #TRAINS. The rest of the world has these, but it still takes 39 hours to go from Indianapolis to Great Falls, Montana on your old stuff. Kudos for the new train on the Cascades route here in the #PNW, but c'mon, get with the program, we want Frecciarossa fast trains, and we want them now. #travel

Just started a new #aviation #book, "Pilot Error: The Human Factors" by Ronald and Leslie Hurst. Ought to be an interesting read. Here's a pull quote from the Introduction: "The Human Factors area today, more than ever, must ensure that adequate attention is given to the failure mode in the human equation." The book is copyright 1982, and brings together many human factors experts to dissect several big airliner crashes, including the Tenerife 747 c...

Do I have today's #WTF news straight: Our Supreme Leader welcomes a known fugitive from Brazil (Bolsonaro) who snuck out thru Argentina on an Italian passport to escape prosecution. Next stop, the Presidential Suite at Mar-A-Lardo. Tell me again how we are to believe the GOP is the "Party of Law and Order." Sure, deport hard working latino laborers you snatched from a Homer's Depot parking lot, but welcome this corrupt ousted strongman. "We'...

Here's a deeper dive from APNews.com into Bolsonaro escaping prosecution by fleeing to the USA. My advice to him is to never hang around outside a Home Depot. https://apnews.com/article/brazil-elections-things-to-know-a50cc25f2611a287fa34085f4c53b0c9

Is anyone surprised that investors are heading for the offramps on $DJT? (Trump Media). Just closed below six bucks. If it closes below five bucks, it will officially become a "Penny Stock" which are ridiculous small-cap companies with very little chance of getting off the floor. Only fools waste time/money on penny stocks, one of the most unpredictable plays in all the markets. I guess he'll now have to make up the difference selling bibles, NFTs, guitars and Ballr...

@aburtch If the Dems can get fully back in power, the very first task has to be severe campaign finance reform. Set clear limits on how much any one person or any of his/her companies can contribute. Outlaw PACs. Task two is to go hard at all the 1% hiding their money offshore to evade U.S. taxes. Mandatory Federal prison (not at Club Fed) for these rich bastard tax cheats. Three is to heavily tax (50%?) anyone holding more than 10 billion dollars. Nobody needs that much personal dough.

Was just asked why I thought $DJT was tanking right before the Midterms. Not an expert, but my theory is that institutional investors (and a lot of Robinhooders) see the "writing on the wall" and are trying to get ahead of what might happen to this stock on Nov. 4th if the elections go the way most legit talking heads think it will go. His rubes will ride the $DJT train until the caboose has left the tracks heading over the cliff. The rest of us will just laugh at them. #Vot...

Went out to Daniels Field last night for a "Pilot's BBQ" hosted by some EAA guys that are based at this little grass strip about 20NM north of KEUG. I had two guys ask me about my sim flying, seems I'm sort of becoming the chapter's "sim guy." I made this screenshot of my #XPlane #flightsim logbook, from 7/24/26 to tonight...to illustrate what I do with the sim. Flew an A380, 747-400, SF-50, C172, RV-12, P-51, F-16, F-4 plus others. #avgeeks #aviation #flying...

I've been curious because I am hearing a LOT more GA airplanes coming in over my house aiming for 16R and 16L at KEUG, so I went to see what it is costing these days for a private pilot ticket here. One flight school has very good transparency and publishes $13,000 - $17,000 for the average student, and can go as high as $20,000 for "extended schedules" where students fly only once a week or less. Yeah, and $8.80/gal for 100LL at the field's only FBO. #Ouch #avgeeks #aviatio...

Stepped outside to go for a neighborhood walk and the hot, thick, smoky air hit me like a 2x4. Around my house, I have purpleair.com readings of 275, 286 and 288 (closest monitors). Yeah, just gunna stay inside with the windows closed, all good.

CBS is pulling the plug on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert next May, Colbert announced today. We will never know what political horseshit is behind this decision, but the CBS claims of the reason being "purely a financial decision" is bogus. Nobody believes you, CBS. They got to you, CBS and you caved. Colbert was the only decent show left on your network, and this will come back to bite you with another consumer boycott. I hope your viewership falls off a cliff. https...

Chatter out of #Canada prompted this question from AvBrief.com: "Last Season For the Snowbirds? Canadian Government Mulls Suspending Demo Team" This is not a done deal by any means. Apparently the Canadian Air Force is down quite a few #pilots, and might be thinking of using these top sticks as non-air show pilots. Article says it might not be a cancellation, just a "five year pause." We love the #Snowbirds here, hopes this does not come to pass. https://avbrief.com/last...

This "Stone Soup" strip in my AM gocomics.com run today hits the target with me. We have something in our family called "The Lebanese Look" that my wife (half Lebanese) can use when she means business. If you see her use that look, you are toast, run fast the other direction. She's normally sweet as can be, unless you are an insurance company trying to F*ck her around. She can somehow transmit that look thru a telephone until the wires melt. It's her secret weapon,...

They way Spirit Airlines went under seems to be indicative of their overall management strategy (or lack thereof). They could have set a date for closing a couple of weeks ago, stopped with the "Trump will bail us out" gaslighting, and not left all their current pax scrambling for flights on other carriers. But no...they just up and closed the airline overnight. 17K of workers on the street, and countless pax screwed over. Corporate America will be proud of them. #GoodRid...

As a guy, I know very little about fashion. But I am failing to understand the Met Gala. So, is the POINT of this event to wear the most unusual, outrageous and ridiculous outfit you can dream up? I get it, you want to serve your ego, make people swoon, but dressing up like a Star Wars houseplant or the love child of Lady Gaga and the Michelin Man just seems silly.

This must be a tradition at Cottage Grove Speedway. They bring every car from the pits out and all of the families come out from the stands and they’ve been hanging around now like this for 30 minutes.

Just made a random observation while on the treadmill. I shuffle all the songs in my iPhone Music app, and many of them are old school 1970s/early 80s rock from back when I was in my late teens and early 20s. I was a different person back then. Partying down, fast motorcycles, trying hard to avoid adulting. My crew did a lot of crazy stuff, it was life in the fast lane. So here I am decades later, still upright, when a few of my pals are gone. I did not expect this level of longevity.

While they might not be 410 winged sprint cars, I'm most likely headed to Cottage Grove (OR) Speedway tonight to see a full card of local yokel stock cars thrash it out on that tight dirt oval. $10 is all to get in, that's some cheap entertainment in this economy. These IMCA cars put on a decent show, they lean heavily on each other in the corners, trade plenty of paint, and make race car noises, which I crave.

I am not sorry I never got to experience the thrill of flying Spirit Airlines (Home of the Bare Fare). Via WSJ (behind paywall): "Spirit Airlines is preparing to shut down. The ailing budget airline had been hoping to finalize a $500 million lifeline from the government before running out of cash. Spirit is currently expected to cease operations around 3 a.m. ET Saturday." Never bothered with Avelo, Allegiant or any other "budget" carrier. Too easy for them to cut corners...

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) Light Sweet Crude now $109.31/bbl tonight, just keeps going up. Last session closed this afternoon with a settlement price of $106.88/bbl. So it's gone up just today about $2.43/bbl. This is the "front " price, for future deliveries. The "get it here tomorrow" physical delivery price is hovering around $120/bbl. AAA has average price nationally of 87 unleaded at $4.229/gal. #Yikes #Damn #RUKiddingMe #ClownCar #trainwreck #DumpsterFire #WT...
