had one too many power failures and now my Mac Mini (2014) running Debian is like dead-dead, won't even boot into Linux recovery shell
Fortunately I had the foresight to put the most important data it was hosting onto an external disk, which just barely survived an NTFS fsck from a Windows VM on my laptop. Unfortunately, in this market, I don't think I'm getting another "4 cores 32GB RAM" machine for a reasonable price any time soon... here's hoping the bootloader can still go into another Debian live image, tho atp I'm not sure I want to, internal drive might be actually toast

@PolyWolf@social.treehouse.systems Does Apple's built-in hardware diagnostics tool still work? If you hold Alt+D at power on, it will boot the diagnostics over the internet, which should work even if there's no macOS on the disk (or the disk is dead). https://support.apple.com/en-us/102550
