I have one dual-socket USB charger, two USB-C cables, and two phones.
if I connect cable 1 to phone 1 and cable 2 to phone 2, only phone 1 charges.
but if I connect cable 1 to phone 2, cable 2 to phone 1, both phones charge.

@foone@digipres.club I think this behavior is in the USB-C spec. They needed to preserve the user confusion from USB A's connector orientation, so they put it here.

@foone@digipres.club What about cable 2 to phone 2 alone?

@foone@digipres.club I think someone published a teardown of various USB cable brands/lengths on youtube, as well as some Li ion battery teardowns, and they found like 75+% are faulty. The cables, specifically, are often manufactured already very close to internal shorts, disconnections, etc. Then the USB ports themselves have various handshake/set rate stuff that gets finicky with certain cables. Ive seen rj45 ethernet do similar shit at least once.
