And yes, you can remove the back and the battery. Very easy. Shades of Nokia phones. This simple thing right here, means this is a phone designed with privacy and sustainability in mind.

@ParadeGrotesque@mastodon.sdf.org "Can I buy the Jolla Phone if I’m outside Europe, can I use it e.g. in the U.S.? The initial sales markets are EU, UK, Switzerland and Norway. Entering other markets, such as the U.S. and Canada are to be decided due course based on potential interest from the areas. We have designed the cellular band configuration to enable potential future markets, including major U.S. carrier networks." https://commerce.jolla.com/products/jolla-phone-sept-26

  • OK, first impressions. Pretty much everything works as expected. The screen is gorgeous, the UI responsive. The build quality is very good and the phone seems solid. Getting online is very quick, as is creating an account on the Jolla store. GPS works as expected (tested with the GPS info app), and I was able to install Pure Maps for OSM goodness. I found the UI gestures a bit confusing, and it took me 20 minutes to understand the fuzzy dots in the corners of the screen were back/forward.

@ParadeGrotesque@mastodon.sdf.org I'll be interested to read your evaluation of the Jolla. My main driver used to be a Sony Xperia 10 III running SailfishOS. One thing I didn't like about the Xperia was the small screen size. SailfishOS I liked. https://mstdn.io/@fitheach/114292419683963974
