The United States does not use the Imperial measurement system. The Imperial Measurement systems was codified nearly half a century after the United States broke away (codified in 1824 for anyone curious). We use the United States Customary Units which while similar to imperial is in fact different in a variety of ways.

US seems to pick the most ddiotic ways of measuring anything: inches, yards, “mills”, etc etc gallons, fluid oz, etc "letter" size paper the fucking arbitrary “numbers” of bolts and screwdriver heads (#0, #00, #000… what the fuck!) the audacity of calling their stupid system"standard" and in a miriad of other domains. whoever defends it is either retarded or absolutely brainwashed.

The word “soccer” is from the British and not a word that Americans came up with. Soccer and football are both just shorthand versions of the full name for the sport, association football being the full name. Soccer initially won out and became the name that spread to the rest of the English speaking world. Later football won out in the UK, but now other sports took the shorthand name of football in parts of the English speaking world. Nowadays self righteous twats refuse to respect other countries own sports name’s because of the swapping of names in the UK. Another great litmus test to weed out people who you’d never want to talk too.
