@gedeonm@mastodon.social I’m not sure if I believe this fully, or at least I haven’t been able to understand it myself. Not that there’s zero impact, but it still takes a lot of time, care, and skill to make an actually good app even with those tools and I don’t think that is changing. I don’t see most people wanting to spend the time to do it well regardless. Maybe I’m being naive ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@danvpeterson@mastodon.social no I don’t think so but like all other spheres in the AI sector vibe coding is moving the window from “good” apps to “good enough” apps. It happened with writing, with artwork and it’s happening now with software. There will always be a market for high-quality software but over time people will become less and less likely to A) pay for it or B) commission it. I’m not saying AI assisted coding isn’t valuable, I *know* it is. It’s yet another scary slippery slope.

Of course you would know more than me about how this is impacting your business. Do you see that people having the ability to use LLMs for writing code is impacting Iconfactory? Do you see it as more of a hard line that any LLM use for code is bad? I’d be very interested in your thoughts on it and the reasoning behind them if you are up for talking about it. No worries though if you don’t want to get into it.
