@mattblaze@federate.social @20002ist@thepit.social Are absentee ballots provisional? Only reason I ask is because when I went up to Nye County* to monitor the re-validating of the absentee ballots, and the ones where signatures didn't match or the vote was ambiguous, all but half a dozen ballots had the names attached. And when I enquired, it was explained to me that the ones without names were from women in Witness Protection — not for testifying against the mob, but because they'd escaped abusive relationships with cops, judges, etc There was a whole process for that involving drop boxes and routing through PO Boxes and all kinds of other (necessary) subterfuge * I had to go to Nye, a 3.5 hour drive from Las Vegas, because they required a D and an R in the room at all times to monitor the process. And apparently there are no Ds in Nye County So I guess the overarching answer to my first question is ERIC, which of course R states have been withdrawing from Also, you guys are the best

@kims@mas.to @20002ist@thepit.social Most absentee ballots aren’t provisional, but some require “curing” before they’re accepted (eg, signature mismatches, etc). People in Address Protection Programs are another interesting special case, as you note (I’m in one, for Reasons). Isn’t Nye county WAY the hell out there?

@kims@mas.to @mattblaze@federate.social Kim, I take my hat off to you for driving 3.5 hours — presumably at speeds in in excess of 90mph — across a god-forsaken wasteland to monitor ballot counting.
