@kims@mas.to @20002ist@thepit.social Most absentee ballots aren’t provisional, but some require “curing” before they’re accepted (eg, signature mismatches, etc). People in Address Protection Programs are another interesting special case, as you note (I’m in one, for Reasons). Isn’t Nye county WAY the hell out there?

@mattblaze@federate.social @20002ist@thepit.social Curing! That's the word I was looking for. I was curing ballots Learning about APP was in equal parts fascinating and horrifying It's 211 miles from my door to the Clown Motel in Tonopah, which is a mile from where the curing is done. I left a sunny warm Las Vegas afternoon to arrive to freezing temps, snow, and winds of 27 mph I will never stay in a room with doors that face the outside (as opposed to an interior hallway) ever again. The windows were badly sealed, so I spent the night watching the curtains inside the room blow for seemingly no reason. Also, a litter of kittens was running up and down the second story breezeway and -- as I discovered via snow tracks in the morning -- patting their little kitten paws against my door, making me believe someone was trying the doorknob My rational mind knew I was okay but my nervous system sure didn't I was just checking out when they called the election for Biden and I hugged the CM owner, Covid caution bedamned

@mattblaze@federate.social @kims@mas.to Have you been reading about this asinine new rule in N.C. that invalidates mail-in ballots if the *inner* envelope isn’t sealed? https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/politics/north-carolina-senate-mail-ballot-rejections.html
