I don’t make the rules, but boob owners aren’t a monolith and good luck convincing every last one to stop giving boob to rich men. If you find yourself question the veracity of that statement then ask yourself how Elon Musk ended up having so many offspring… it certainly wasn’t because he had a charming personality or an attractive body…

Jack Smith has been saying the right things all along, you just haven’t been paying attention. And if you expected him to make public announcements about it when he was still conducting the investigation, then you don’t understand how the US legal system works because that kind of shit can get solid evidence thrown out in court. He had to cross every t and dot every i in this case, and he did his due diligence. The only place it broke down was when the scotus punted the trial till after the election.

Some companies offer modular batteries, so instead of buying like one big 15kWh battery, you can get 3 5kWh batteries. And there’s usually a cabinet or server rack where you can put them together. That way it’s more scalable and easier to add capacity. And when it’s time to upgrade or replace them, you can do that in smaller steps instead of all at once.

Multiple problems with this. For one thing, it’s blatant corruption. Attempting to bribe the voters with taxpayer dollars? Using federal funds for partisan activity? Aside from that, didn’t he make promises like that last time, which he never delivered on? How stupid could his base really be? (please don’t answer that. I know they’re dumb as hell). Lastly, if we look back to his last term when he used federal money to write checks to every american adult, the effect it had on inflation as well as the national debt was enormous. So yeah, fuck this with a rusty spoon.

Someone on lemmy was seriously trying to argue with me that Europe and the UK should let american food products in because “free market” or some shit. I kept telling them NOBODY FUCKING WANTS THAT, and they just wouldn’t get it. And I say this as a USian… They were probably either a troll or an astroturfer.

Yeah I’m not an electrician, and unless you are one I’d say you should probably have one install it for you if you want it to feed directly into your home circuit. There’s a few other components to it though, like an inverter basically takes the DC output from the batteries and converts it to AC at the right specs for your home circuit. So really you just need that to be installed properly, and then I’m pretty sure the batteries are plug-and-play. Also an MPPT is important for solar batteries because it controls the flow from the panel to the batteries, which improves efficiency as well as battery health and safety. The smaller modular batteries though, they can be rated for over 3500W continuous output. That should be enough for a heat pump, especially because I’m pretty sure that’s for each battery. But if you’re running stuff from outlets, you can also look into portable batteries, sometimes called power stations. Some of them come with built-in inverters and MPPT controllers so you can charge them with solar panels and run AC devices on them without any additional peripherals.

Yeah and if it prompts you for a password that’s because the computer has a self-destruct system built-in for security. The sysadmin doesn’t want strangers running sarcastic commands locally, so it’s super important to type the password correctly or else the servers could explode

Some areas have a “swam list,” where beekeepers put their name on the list and whenever someone in the area finds a swarm on their property they call someone from the swarm list and they come out to get the bees. It’s a lot better than the alternative, which is ignorant property owners spraying the swarm with wasp poison… :(

You’re thinking on the right track, but honestly they already replaced all the top brass with stooges and forced most of the officer who had principles to resign. I would not count on the military intervening if trump declares himself emperor for life. We still need to vote, of course. But if he ignores the results, or if they fuck with the elections too hard to ignore, don’t expect salvation to come from above…

Because they were using the r-slur? That only makes sense. It’s against the community rules, is it not? The mods here never claimed to be free speech absolutists. If you think the problem here is that people aren’t allowed to use the r-slur, you completely missed the point of the article. The hypocrisy is the main issue. This admin cries about how people can’t say the r-slur anymore, and then they get butthurt and threaten abuses of power when it’s used against them. Weaponizing the FBI against some jerks on the internet is a huge part of the problem too. Enforcing conduct and language standards falls on content moderation teams, not federal law enforcement. That doesn’t mean the whole internet should be the wild west. Unless you’re okay with nazis spouting hate? Because that’s what you’ll get with free speech absolutism. So honestly I really don’t get you’re point. Should the mods not remove comments that use slurs, and ban repeat offenders?

Honestly, I’m on Team Honey, but that argument has a glaring hole in it. Which is that many apiaries put an object over the entrance to the hive which lets worker bees pass freely but blocks the queen from escaping. And worker bees bonded to a queen will literally die before abandoning her. So they can’t just leave. Bees that do that in the while travel as a colony in what’s called a swarm (which is actually very docile because they have no hive to defend). A bee that gets separated from its colony dies.

I’ll clarify that it wasn’t my intent to defend the AI hype. I agree that LLMs are just predictive algorithms that use probabilistic and non-deterministic heuristics to extrapolate likely responses. I was just pointing out that saying they can’t come up with anything original is maybe not the best angle because it opens up a can of worms about whether even humans can come up with anything truly original, which is philosophically fraught. Yes the mathematician solved the equation. But he couldn’t have done so without spending years devoted to learning the state of mathematics today, including all the work and research and theorems and proofs from all the mathematicians who came before him. Maybe he applied old concepts in new ways to solve a problem that hadn’t been solved before. I doubt he invented an entirely new form of mathematics not based in anything that existed before. And even if he did that, chances are he only knew how to do that because of what he’s learned from pre-existing systems of mathematics. That’s the point I was trying to make

Yes but how many billable hours did they get for this 320-minute ordeal? Spending $1000 on transportation costs commuting to and from work over a span of 2-4 years is completely different from burning through $1000 dollars of tokens in a single workday. Especially if the boss now demands the same amount of output from you every day as the new normal. And that’s not to mention how the energy and water consumption happens on a much shorter timescale than the drawn out one you needed to cite to make it seem comparable.
