I’ve been to several retail establishments that have reminded me of the NYE episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

So you’re saying if I don’t want to talk to my neighbor anymore I just have to identify and gift them their least favorite foods?

I have no issue with this except the grease splatter. Your work area would be tacky and dusty all the time!

You're right! They misspelled Br\*ta\*n! edit: Should have considered that we're rendering markdown before I used asterisks so wantonly.

Allegedly my great (maybe great great, I don't know) grandmother tried to murder her husband by putting rat poison in his morning coffee. I don't know if the forensics back then would have been able to identify that, but fortunately it didn't matter because apparently rat poison floats. I was never told what happened to her, though.

I've always loved the Unix wizard poster.

In the spirit of heeding your username, I shall engage. In markdown, if you use a single asterisk it doesn't mean much unless it's part of a list. However, if you use two, it will italicize the text between them. Britain, for example, would bring Br*ta*n because the T and A (yes, I'm aware of the abbreviation) would be between them. edit: Seven days later, I saw this post again. I realize now you weren't talking about the formatting but how many instances of the offending character to replace, like non global stream editing or sort of like ƒ.

I saw this immediately after waking up, then apparently had a dream about it working with no changes. I was very disappointed when I actually woke up and tried again.

I’ve never had lobster roll - or indeed lobster - but from the name I imagined it to be lobster rolled up in something like a pig in a blanket (though I’ve heard that varies from place to place as well; my variant is just a hot dog rolled up in a croissant). I was pretty disappointed the first time someone around me ordered one and it was just lobster in a roll … Though I admit it makes sense.

When I worked a help desk job, I once spent seventeen minutes trying to describe to a customer where the semicolon is on a keyboard. I know how long it was because my then-manager listened in and thought it so ridiculous that he sent me the recording of the call because it made him laugh. This is relevant because the reason I wanted her to type a semicolon was to press shift+semicolon to type the web address used by my employer to grant remote access. I don’t remember why she needed to type http: … It was more than half my life ago. I was probably following a script or maybe I made the mistake of saying the full URL and the customer fixated on it. Point is, though remote management is better now than it was, it doesn’t solve all woes.

I don’t put seeds on mine, but they seem like sesame seeds. What were you picturing? The rolls are: https://www.pillsbury.com/products/crescents/original I wouldn’t call them sweet, but from what I understand the UK and US have very different definitions of that taste, so you might. edit: That might actually just be salt. Pretty sure it’s sesame though.

I thought that I was the only one to think so, so it’s a relief to read this and discover that I’m probably not a sadist for enjoying the regeneration mechanics. I also vaguely remember enjoying Wolverine’s Revenge, but the main things I truly remember about that game are the Weapon X helmet and the tracking mechanics, so it’s possible it wasn’t that great.

No, I’m not in the UK. What you describe is delicious, too, but I’m not aware of a colloquialism that describes it. What I’m accustomed to by that name is a less fancy looking version of this:

My condolences to your partner! I hope they feel better soon. My plans for the morning were to take the wife and kid to a local breakfast buffet, but I exacerbated my chronic back injury yesterday. I was still gonna try to power through it but the kid woke up saying they feel sick, so we decided we’d try again next weekend. (We hadn’t told the kid so they’re not disappointed.) I might still go and try to pick up food for the family if my back allows, but no adventures on the docket anymore.
