mastodon 4.7.2Formerly an online #zine of #horror #art, #microfiction, and brief #poetry, with a weekly #podcast. Both zine and podcast have ceased production, but back issues/episodes remain online. The website is now my personal horror blog.
6 books not in the horror section of the bookstore that I consider horror:
1. The Book of Daniel, from the Bible
2. Les Chants de Maldoror, by the Comte de Lautréamont
3. The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde
4. The Trial, by Franz Kafka
5. The Nutcracker and the King of Mice, by E. T. A. Hoffmann
6. The Master and Margarita, by Mikhail Bulgakov
Found the original Land of the Lost series from the 70s. I’d forgotten that the theme song was kind of bluegrass style.
Dreamt last night that I took my tiger to the office (as one does) and lost track of it. Couldn’t made anyone understand the seriousness of the situation. Began to wonder if I was irresponsible to
1. turn my back on the tiger
2. bring an apex predator into a crowded office building
3. have a tiger
My purchases at Rainy Day Books for #IndieBookstoreDay:
I appreciate it when a site that forces you to create an account to view free content accepts an example . com email and doesn’t make you verify.
Just starting episode 2 of Station Eleven, and so far I’m thinking “post-apocalyptic renfaire.” Not that that’s a bad thing.
Watching The Bride. As an amateur scholar of #Dada, I couldn’t help but notice this poster in the background. “Merz” was the idiolect of Dada created by artist Kurt Schwitters.
Hated Bugonia. I’m sure they thought the ending was clever, but I grew up on The Twilight Zone. Parts (“Now we’re making a statement about conspiracy theory echo chambers!”) reminded me of Eddington, another bad movie.
Bugonia is a remake of a South Korean movie. Wonder if the original is better?
TIL: If you let Rasputina’s “Transylvania Concubine” play over and over in your head, it starts turning into “Pennsylvania Compromise.”
Or is that just me?
From Electric Literature: queer bookstores to support this Independent Bookstore Day.
(I just learned that Rainy Day Books, near me, has a horror book club. I’ll have to check it out.)
Tornado sirens going off. We’re in the basement with the dogs. Not outside watching. When did we get old?
