does anyone else ever get an 'earworm' but it's just a word?

I have had the word "antimacassar" going round in my head all day.

Not only have I no idea why, until I looked it up just now I couldn't have told you what it meant.

(It's a protective covering you put on yhe arms or back of an armchair)

finally booked up coach and rail tickets for the next few weeks to see:

- Colin Stetson & Kayla Painter in Brighton
- and, perhaps most excitingly for me at least, my friends baby, little Frank, in Worthing.

got a bit excited about a gig opportunity in the Surrey Hills, which is a drive away from me, but not super far away.

Turns out I misread and it was in the Surry Hills, which is about 9000+ miles further away.

Ah well

(edited to correct the mileage - geography really isn't my strong point)

I don't know if I mentioned, but a while back I put some money into a collective purchase of a "community soundsystem" which between a bunch of us will be hired out and managed for events and played out.

This is half the rig.

really good practice tonight for upcoming gig. I feel like I've got an okay 'basic' setup, I'm going to spend tomorrow evening and the weekend adding more layers.

been listening to this on pre-release as a Bandcamp subscriber for what feels like a long time. Delighted it's now more widely available.

just been on the listening party for the new album by @thomasragsmusic@mas.to on @Fieldswefound@mstdn.social called 'Songs of Soil' built around recordings of worms he did by putting a contact mic in his compost bin.
It's such a fantastic piece of work, one I'll be coming back to regularly, I can already tell.

I still think there is a room in the world for a well designed "You were an adequate parent" card for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Not everyone's parents are "simply wonderful" or "the world's best" but they might still be worth a card.

a solitary greengage fruit.

the first I've ever seen on the greengage bush / tree that I planted over 10 years ago.

I had pretty much given up on it fruiting so this, although small, is very pleasing.

the amount of time and effort that goes into crafting a reply that says "you didn't actually read my email before responding to me, did you?" without saying that.
