Not suprising in the least but disappointing to see Reddit move the wrong way. Less open, killing public API, ending RSS. #enshitification commences in a speed run.
Looking forward to #Piefed and rest of #Threadiverse to work to take advantage of this moment.

Meta's Muse.ai is impressive enough to me to really prove that such Agents can be mass market offerings - and makes me deeply hopeful for a purely private, and/or self hosted offering that is as easy to use to come along.

@stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe - for #LittleFedi have you thought about using the same technique or even the say relays as #HolosSocial and #HolosDiscover to have the micro single users server speak to and see the larger Fediverse better?

To the contrary: If Bluesky wins, or if Nostr or some new open, decentralized social platform wins, that only benefits the whole.
The open social web is ONE web.
I get prefering one, but being religious over ActivtyPub, vs ATProto vs Nostr protocols is silly and like POP3 email vs SMTP email etc, when in reality it was all ONE email system.
Just so, the whole open social web benefits and is enriched by ANY of the other succeeding.

#HolosDiscover continues to evolve into the privacy respecting search engine the #Fediverse has needed for some while now....

#HolosDiscover now indexes #PeerTube videos. You can find them in search and timelines, but the way they look still needs some work.
A video is not the same kind of #ActivityPub object as a normal post. A post is a short text made to be read in the timeline. A video has a title, a long description, and a media file, so it should be shown as a video card with a thumbnail and a link, not as plain text. That part is coming next.

“We have traded a free internet for a collection of walled gardens. Today, a handful of digital landlords use algorithms to dictate our reality, while closed AI threatens to change the ways we connect. We are at a breaking point: we can either let gatekeepers continue to consolidate their power, or we can reclaim the open source spirit that built the web in the first place.” https://zeldman.com/2026/07/02/the-human-story-of-the-open-web/

Until there is a built in discovery feature, can I suggest people creating collections post them under a hashtag? Maybe #collections?

@wjmaggos@liberal.city I undertand having a preference. For me, I think Nostr has an insufficient means for content moderation (which they would say is a feature not a bug) however, the whole open social web is improved by them being bridged into it, and my posts here improve (I think) Nostr by the fact that I can bridge my posts to them.
Gopher actually does still exist and ties into and benefits one web. (An extremely tiny part but I suppose it meets that communities needs)

The open social web - both #Fediverse and #Blusky /#Atmosphere owe @samir@m.fedica.com and @FedicaHQ@m.fedica.com a ton for their forward looking tools embracing the social web.
Excited to see them launch 2.0 and am checking it out.

My team studied every competitive House, Senate and Gov camapiagn sites: neither side is even trying on AI. But there is still time to change the one thing they have direct control on to inform AI Answers.

@cheeaun@mastodon.social Chee Aun is this...
"As the link is not the same as currently-logged-in instance, it'll be "unfurl"-ed, almost like how we "guess" the post links, then fetch the remote API call. On a *collection* page itself, it's possible to use search API to unfurl the federated local collection ID, so switching between them is possible."
Related to this...?

One UX issue, when users link to their #collections on web UX, it links to it as a full path url... which makes sense, but that forces any other users who click on it from outside that server into a "remote server interactions hell" issue. is there any potential future work around on that?

Agreed. The trust question is the whole ballgame for the agentic web. An agent is only useful if you hand it your inbox, calendar, and wallet, so the bet is who would you trust this with? Not Meta. Not Google. Not AI tech. Watching this one closely.

Very proud of the work my team did with Innovating for the Public Good here. There is still time - even with just weeks to go - for organizations to put inoculation to work fighting against the disinformation we know is coming as we head to the polls this midterm. And time to start planning for beyond.
