Thanks to Swift community member Saleem, we have a new Swift XML parser! 🌿

Xylem is pure Swift, zero dependencies, covering SAX, DOM, and XPath 1.0. This is the kind of infrastructure work that helps Swift thrive everywhere! 🎉 https://forums.swift.org/t/xylem-a-pure-swift-xml-parser/85754

Xylem: A Pure Swift XML Parser

Xylem: A Pure Swift XML Parser I wrote an XML parser in Swift. In 2026. On purpose. I named it after the tissue in plants that moves water through a tree — this one moves data through one. Xylem targets UTF-8 XML 1.0 well-formedness with namespace-aware SAX/DOM parsing and XPath 1.0. It has tests. It has benchmarks. It even has a W3C conformance suite plugin. This is what I do for fun, apparently. What you get SAXParser, DOMParser, and XPath as separate modules on a shared XMLCore — use only

Introducing GraphQL Vapor & Hummingbird Packages

The GraphQLSwift organization is excited to publicly release graphql-vapor and graphql-hummingbird, which simplify exposing GraphQL APIs through the Vapor and Hummingbird server frameworks. Correctly exposing a GraphQL schema through HTTP is not trivial; you must consider specialized encodings, match errors to response status codes, and integrate specialized subscription protocols. The new graphql-hummingbirdand graphql-vapor packages handle all of these details. Integration is as easy as calli

The Growth of the Swift Server Ecosystem

Nearly ten years ago, Swift was open sourced and an official runtime for Linux was released. I’ve been involved with Swift on the server since almost the very beginning, originally picking it up as a way to use a language I really enjoyed for backend development. In that time Swift has come a long way, with stability across platforms, a burgeoning ecosystem and many success stories. It’s matured into a great option for highly-scalable server applications, websites, and lambdas. In this post, I’l
