Locked down chromebooks that eliminate every possible distraction, and excess web filtering beyond the legally required necessities does not educate children how to handle problems. It just makes them more susceptible.

Like, I think it’s a problem that schools are embracing these all in one applications that involve students slogging through page after page, and give educators back mountains of data with nothing actionable out of it as opposed to using computers in a way that teaches how to solve real problems by incorporating multiple applications to form a solution.
And that’s actually if a computer is needed to begin with. Many elementary school problems do not.

Like this iready intro alone is cute and resonates with the same vibe as something you would find on PBS Kids. But I’m sure children would tire of it quickly as I did.

I love how you can make these general assumptions about computers like "you need a root authentication to be root" and then stuff like this appears and it's wrong all of a sudden

@KayOhtie@blimps.xyz @whaleofawhisk.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy it'd get annoying really fast when I'm trying to focus and someone keeps trying to allude to macarons baking and expanding as being like me inflating. This is really relatable tbh. I always want to jive on common interests but I always get nervous about stepping on toes because I never know how close said thing actually is to someone at any given time. So then I'm just bothering or shocking someone.

I’m looking at footage of the app. And it literally seems to revolve around these two alien fellas Plory and Yoop spliced in between math and reading questions.
It’s literally the exact same thing I grew up with except being almost entirely around animations since kids probably are even worse at concentrating today

Trying to figure out how to change the admin user of Sharkey. Used to be as simple on most Misskey apps as changing isRoot or isAdmin in the database. But it seems to be more complicated here

It's tempting to experiment with Claude code to set it up, especially given how eepy I am at the moment but really want to see this application running. But I should either persist or go to bed.
