@PogoWasRight@infosec.exchange Another totally nonsensical policy, largely because of the critical point you raise in your last sentence. Also, do we expect State to now investigate online criminal networks and cross-correlate membership lists with lists of visa applicants?
@PogoWasRight@zackwhittaker@campuscodi@euroinfosec@lawrenceabrams@jgreig@securityaffairs@Hackread@h4ckernews For many attackers, managing large amounts of stolen data *clandestinely* is an annoying task they are glad to be rid of once they are paid. It is another part of their operations beyond the intrusion itself that they have to be very careful to manage in a way that cannot be attributed to them. Any remnant they keep is potential evidence against them if they should be apprehended in the future. The easiest and safest path is to get rid of it as soon as possible.
@mattblaze While these Cold War structures are relics, we are still quite at the stage of possible oblivion. Just with fewer visible icons to remind us of the possibility. Very odd.
@mattblaze@federate.social And he got the payoff for something that happened under Trump (previous president)! Maybe they should make that guy financially responsible for it?
