As part of the #OSI's engagement as a knowledge partner in the #G7, the OSI's Executive Director, Duane O'Brien addressed G7 ministers today at the meeting of G7 #Digital and #Technology ministers in #Paris. We look forward to sharing more about our work at the G7 soon!
The European Commission's proposal to provide funding for the Commercialisation of Open Source in Europe is a great thing both for Europe's digital autonomy and for Open Source sustainability.
It is the result of a multi-year educational and advocacy effort by Open Source organisations in Brussels, including the OSI!

Our recommendations:
🤝 Reform public procurement to take into account the benefits of #OpenSource
💶 Fund Open Source solutions
💻 Get Open Source devs access to compute
💾 Unlock public domain data while protecting privacy and personal data
🔧 Build capacity in public and private sectors to use Open Source solutions!

The OSI is present today at preparatory negotiations for the #G7 which will take place later this year in Evian, France. We have been invited to share our views on #OpenSource software and #AI. [JM]
