I’ve been doing software development for 30years processionally, 40 years in total I love software development and its been my job one way or another for my entire professional life. Even as CTO I still daily got my hands dirty because I just can’t stop development That is, until 4 months ago when a project manager stabbed the then current CEO and best friend of hers in the back, got that CEO fired, and became the new CEO herself. (That entire event is a Mexican soap opera with chapters in on itself) First thing that new CEO did? Fire my ass, fire the entire IT department, hire two new AI viber bros, or whatever they call themselves now, and all the software i produced over the past 5 years got scrapped immediately without replacement because fuck knows why. And so I go look for a new job and there is nothing I mean, there seem to be jobs, I applied for everything, literally at this point, and haven’t even gotten a single call in 4 months now Its fucking depressing, I stopped working on my open source project, because I’m just too depressed to enjoy it. I am seriously considering becoming a gardener

Which is obvious bullshit Any additionally software and or layers will affect performance, be it by a few clock cycles to 100%, but some performance will be lost; its just a matter of how much. Its the same with a car; every piece you add to it will increase weight and decrease performance. Saying its 0 is automatically bullshit and in this case its an outright lie

To paraphrase someone: You need to win every time. I need you to lose only once. Anyone thinking that this won't pass this time, or next year, or the year after that or the year... They will push this as a new thing, wrapping the same bullshit lies in a new paper each time... Eventually it'll pass, it always does. All they need is patience The only possible cou ter to this is to enshrine the right to own a computer and internet access into your constitution or something like that.

Why it's illegal and potentially criminal

LinkedIn scans your browser for installed extensions every time you visit the site. It does this without asking, without telling you, and without any mention in its privacy policy.

Cool! Send the fucking CEO to jail. Send a fucking message. If I break the law, I go to jail, can we PLEASE give them the same treatment already?

Did somebody let Lennart out again? You know he shouldn't be walking around alone outside, he's just going to get himself into trouble. On a slightly more serious note: systemd does some things nice, a lot of things it does very badly, and it really seriously needs to stop trying to push it's grubby little fingers into every sub system out there. All that is one thing, but the main issue with systems always seemed it's main developer, Lennart Poetteting who was never one to shy away from drama and controversy, and not in a good way.

Ni kings protests 1&2 literally did shit all to change anything, for one because these were just one day manifestations that disappeared the next day and nobody cared. What is this protest supposed to achieve? Seriously, why even bother if it's just another single day protest that changes exactly nothing? Edit: I'm seriously not trying to be negative, it's a serious question: what is the goal? You have concentration camps, people are being taken from the streets, you have a pedophile president destroying the world, and these one day no kings protest really is the best you can do? Can you at least make it a week worth of protests? I know it's a cost, I know Americans can't because work won't let them, but FFS, that IS the problem, you should be able to just protest whenever you want and you literally can't because you don't have vacation days? You want that to stay the same forever? You want no change? What are you going to do?

Maybe ask the French how to do a protest, then. They too don't have leverage, they make their leverage. They make sure they can't be ignored and they go at it for months if they have to. A single day protest is going to do so little that the Cheeto won't even have to bother thinking about it. You need to have a permanent protest in front of the Whitehouse, and congress and the equivalent state houses in every goddamn state in your country. Be there 24/7. Make yourself unignorable.

Wellllll..... I'm fully against these systems, and fully against my data leaving the doctors office, but the "summarization in particular don’t need powerful hardware" is a bit of a stretch to put it mildly, especially when you start looking at what computers most doctors have to work with. The average doctor computer that I see still uses VGA cables for crying out loud, you won't see any AI on those machines ever.

The USA and NK are not the only countries in the world. there are dozens more!
Some of these countries actually have functioning democracies with respectable and trust worthy news outlets that are not bound to what the government allows them to say. There are dozens of these too!
All of these say the exact same thing: NK is a highly repressive regime that regularly imprisons, tortures and kills its citizens. Correction, they don't just say it, they back it up with evidence, photos, witness statements, satellite photos, etc etc etc...
Add to that the many survivors from there that managed to escape, all testifying to the horrors they have endured and or witnessed on a regular basis...

And all you got is: But brother Kim told me it was a great place to live, so obviously I believe him!

Seriously, get your head out of your ass, kid. Yeah, the US is a vile fucking empire, has been pretty much for its entire existence, and yeah, it should and could be a normal functioning democracy, which it is not, and the current president is a warmongering pedophile. All true.

That does not change ANYTHING about NK being a fucking clownshitshow of a country, likely the worst country you can possibly be born in today. Actual conversation I had with an admin after I graded ab exam with 70/100 after a student made 2 big and 2 small mistakes on an exam You have to grade her exam 100 But she made a bunch of mistakes She wants the grading 100 or she’ll leave But then what is the point of grading?
