This video shows how NAS Reborn appears as a file share and how a static website can seem dynamic when the Jekyll implementation is smart about cache invalidation.

Backup is always important, especially when you self-host. The app supports end-to-end encrypted backups to S3 buckets, not just to other NAS Reborn instances.

Backup directory contains a python script to restore without using the app.
It can be frustrating to check man-pages on a small screen when you don’t remember the exact parameters and I built something into ShellFish that checks and renders local man-pages.
This makes the manual match the actual software on that server and saves you from opening a browser or another terminal.
Claude Code worktrees are useful for parallel work but will eat up SSD space.
I wrote a small WorktreeCreate hook to share identical files between worktrees using APFS cloning. Byte-identical to git worktree add and easy to install.
This review made me very happy.

Secure ShellFish 2026.5 is out with adjustments to work better with Tailscale to easily reach computers on your local network from outside.
It also has a new Sentence mode, making it faster to type natural language with the on-screen keyboard.
As always, there is first-class tmux support and reasonable pricing. https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id1336634154?pt=15897&ct=mastodon&mt=8

My S3 and FTP apps added support for MCP (Model Context Protocol) around this time last year, when I was caught up in the early MCP euphoria and Apple Intelligence disappointment.
MCP turned out to be mostly useful for developers, and even for them regular command line scripts are superior when working locally.
This feature had zero users, and MCP support will be purged in the next App Store update.
After years of procrastination, I finally localized Working Copy into German, but it was difficult as some Git terminology should not be translated but still needs to be conjugated for German grammar.
Are you a German software developer? Please try out the Working Copy beta and tell me what to improve.

I have had support for spinning up Digital Ocean droplets in @ShellFish@indieapps.space for years and finally got around to implementing something similar for Hetzner.
I’m experimenting with a live activity in @ShellFish@indieapps.space that shows the last line and attempts to show progress in the dynamic island and it feels kind of promising.
Help me test and improve this by running the TestFlight beta:

I want my file transfer apps to offer cloud storage convenience with lower privacy and monetary costs, and I've been working on making photo backup as simple as possible.
Now there's something ready for iOS/Mac + FTP/S3 that I've found useful — but I need your input. Try it out and tell me what would make it perfect for your workflow.

Jobs said that “You can't start with the technology and try to figure out where you're gonna try to sell it.” but I never stopped trying.
Check out this new “Request Edit” feature in my S3 app that nobody asked for.
It allows you to share a link giving permission to edit a specific file on any S3 server merging changes if there is more than one person editing.
I normally have mainstream taste in games, so it surprised me that I don’t like Expedition 33 at all.
I think the animations look bad, and I hate the combat system.
Playing it is a chore, and I’m not in the mood for chores.
Source Files is the opposite of Working Copy putting repositories in the Finder/Files app by using REST APIs for changes instead of cloning, committing and pushing.
It needs explicit API support which it has had for GitHub, GitLab and BitBucket but now I’m expanding with @gitea@social.gitea.io support.

I love this thread and hope it will continue and cover many years.
@harshil@mastodon.social this is top Mastodon content 👏
Anyone able to recommend some ollama model that supports tool-calling and can run on 32GB memory?
I’m having very poor results with qwen3 variants.
Hips Don’t Lie, Waka Waka, La La La and now Dai Dai.
What is it with Shakira and the World Cup?
Reply with the date at which you got access to the new Siri AI in the iOS 27 beta.
I have a feeling Apple hasn’t accepted new Siri AI users from the waiting list for weeks.
Please repost for reach.
I have been testing the new Siri AI on iOS 27 the last few days trying to implement the Files domain schema in Working Copy.
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appintents/app-schema-domain-files
Nothing that I try seems to work.
Any other developers able to rename files conversationally?
