It's disappointing to see otherwise intelligent people arguing that because AI hasn't done anything truly terrible yet that it never will. This is the same faulty logic used by climate change deniers ever since the 1980s.

You need to understand git worktrees in 2026. All of the writeups I found confused me. They were either too high level or always focused on AI. So I wrote my own gentle introduction to git worktrees: https://humanwhocodes.com/blog/2026/07/introduction-git-worktrees

Git worktrees let you check out multiple branches into separate directories simultaneously, making parallel local development straightforward whether you're working solo or alongside AI coding agents.

I don’t code on weekends. I haven’t in over ten years. Try it. Let your brain relax a bit.

There's a special place in hell for companies that make me spend 10 minutes navigating a phone tree only to tell me to use the website to complete this action.

The latest npm security incident has a slightly different shape but would still have been mitigated by what I suggested back in January.

Why doesn't npm detect compromised packages the way credit card companies detect fraud?

I always feel bad for people who spend a ton of time on a pull request that the project doesn’t want. You can avoid wasting a lot of time by first opening an issue describing what you’re thinking of doing to get feedback before you start coding.

Because Apple has lost my confidence, I see moving the power button to the bottom of the Mac Mini as suspicious. Why do they want me to keep it on? What are they doing when I'm not looking?

Cannot say enough good things about the job @antfu@m.webtoo.ls has done with the ESLint Config Inspector. Just used it to debug an issue I was having in ESLint's own config file. If you haven't tried it yet, it's worth going out of your way to do so.

TIL Twitter and Mastodon count URLs as a maximum of 23 characters. Bluesky counts URLs as a maximum of 27. 🤷‍♂️
