@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social one of the saddest things about AI is that this might never happen again

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social I think the other problem is that teacher pay is set at a very local level, so it gets less attention and the budget is smaller.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social ok, so the datacenters that use cooling towers use water, but those are owned by a few of the least ethical companies. The most modern facilities use chillers, which operate on a closed loop.

@ahltorp@mastodon.nu @VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social I have reliable second-hand knowledge of new projects planned with cooling towers for cost reasons in lenient jurisdictions within the U. S.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social I've been thinking... How do you all have the time and energy to do all this work (also technical, but especially chasing companies for this corporate partnership stuff) at a high level and give it away for free?

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social I generally agree with the sentiment, but there have been some arrests as an indirect result of the attention brought by such hearings. Hunter Biden was arrested and very aggressively prosecuted on a relatively minor offense, for instance.
