I built a 300 baud acoustic modem from a kit, using the mic and speaker from an old phone, which were then attached to my regular handset with rubber bands.
I also implemented a kind of simple Huffman compression to be able to receive text almost twice as fast, and the Emacs-like editor would refresh the screen starting with the line that the cursor was on, and then alternate on either side of that towards the top and bottom. It was fine.

Varje gång jag ser såna där logotyper så går jag direkt in i uBlock Origin och använder droppverktyget. Ibland tar jag hela raden, ibland en symbol i taget.

Det låter som det wifi-mesh som fanns på OLPC XO för 20 år sedan. Det var avsett för skolor i utvecklingsländer som saknade infrastruktur. Tyvärr har ju wifi inte så lång räckvidd, så man måste ha nära till grannar.

I remember (though it feels like it must have been a dream) being on a plane in the US where smoking was allowed on the left side of the aisle, but not on the other. Yeah, that worked really well.

Talking about annoyances, there was a time when there were smoking and non-smoking sections on the trains. Everybody preferred to book non-smoking. Even the smokers, who would just go to the smoking sections to smoke. So, if you booked late, the only seats available were in the smoking sections. It was pure hell.

Jag trodde att uttag skedde med ett separat nätverk, som förr, men det verkar som att det numera är Plus och Cirrus, ägda av Visa och Mastercard.
Så vill man bojkotta landet xxx får man förbeställa kontanter från ett stort bankkontor som vanligtvis ligger långt borta. Köp bussbiljetten dit med kontanter (som om det går). Ta ut så det räcker ett tag och förvara i madrassen.
I USA finns det många nätbutiker och tjänster som tar presentkort från stora affärskedjor. Det har blivit en slags anonymt betalningssätt för VPN etc.

It's easy to use a script in greasemonkey (or one of the clones) to make general string replacements. I did that once upon a time, but stopped for some reason or other.

Shiva Baby is about a young Jewish woman in New York, attending a funeral and the week long shiva (mourning period) after. She is preoccupied with her bisexual relationships and her messy life in general. I really liked it.
There's a category in Mubi called Funny Ha-ha, but I don't see anything sticking out there right now that I would consider a pure comedy.
Tavern Man is a nice 15-minute short from Aki Kaurismäki. Not laugh out loud funny, but very enjoyable, like all his films.

Jag åkte inte tåg den där gången för några år sedan, men efter färjan till Klaipėda körde jag till Kaunas och Vilnius. Gratis laddstolpar hela vägen, vilket var en glad överraskning. Tyvärr regnade det hela tiden, så det blev inte så mycket promenerande. Hoppas du har bättre tur!

Det döljer sig en hel del stora svenska märken bakom de där företagsnamnen. Gevalia, Marabou, Skånemejerier, Zoëgas, Wasabröd för att bara nämna några.
Jag utgår också från att aluminiumburkar kommer från den ryskägda fabriken i Sundsvall.

Tor Browser used to show which countries the circuit went through, but not anymore. Is it possible to get that again, or was it removed for security reasons? It's annoying to have guess what's going on.

Jag har köpt en "SE"-dekal att sätta på bilen. De gamla landskoderna med 1-3 bokstäver, beroende på hur viktiga länderna är, är ju helt förlegade.
Det är ISO 3166-1 alpha 2 som gäller. Internetdomäner följer i stort sett detta.

It's hard to search by categories and for movies that I have rated, especially since we're in different geofences.
They have a lot of Buster Keaton, which are as funny as it gets.
Also Shiva Baby and Being John Malcovich. That last one is edgy, though.
