@yaxu@post.lurk.org i feel like this is similar to the idea that "all human knowledge is online now" as if (even in the best most charitable case) a complete repository of textbooks is somehow the be all and end all of knowledge and pedagogy

@yaxu@post.lurk.org huh apols for self promo but im now realising the post i published today is aligned with this 😅 ("Cultivate both solemn secrets and bold proclamations" and "Start a network of covens"). unsure what this might look like in practice. i know in architecture theres a strong tradition of everyone copying the department pattern library before they leave.

someone suggested i look up #permacomputing and honest gut feeling from me: it seems to be the kind of vaguesauce virtue signalling wordsalad people on the cultural left love that sends normal people running, i can't possibly see how this will do anything to improve digital inclusion and lots of ways it will make it worse.
has anyone had any truck with the term? or seem any good irl impact? would be nice to have my initial feeling confounded

@noderesist@indieweb.social hey this sounds awesome! if there's a chance to talk about the work @gfsc@sunbeam.city is doing in the future there that would be so cool? https://gfsc.community/the-geeks-for-social-change-manifesto-v1-0/

@spraoi@tooting.ch @evan@cosocial.ca this is my take too. for e.g. on bksy someone i know with a huge follower count started a dogpile against me and i blocked them on there to nip it in the bud but like, i woulda taken an apology on any other network, it was crisis management not a "never talk to me again". its contextual.

@wheresalice@woof.tech yeah that makes sense, the whole "its like gardening permaculture" thing just makes no sense to me at all, computers and plants are in no way comprable
